    Stop The Wait RI (STW) is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit advocacy organization with a mission to amplify parent voices, build communDity power, and fight for the conditions that will create the best educational landscape for Rhode Island’s children.

    We are seeking a Development & Finance Strategist who will take ownership of executing our fundraising and finance systems. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, highly organized, and eager to expand their skills in both development and nonprofit financial management.

    This individual will execute key fundraising activities- including grant writing, donor outreach, and donor events- while also supporting organizational budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance.

    Position Overview

    The Development & Finance Strategist will be directly responsible for executing development tasks and maintaining financial systems that support organizational growth. You will serve as the engine behind fundraising campaigns, grant submissions, and donor communications, while also playing a key role in financial tracking and budget support.

    Key ResponsibilitiesFundraising & Donor Relations

    • Execute STW’s annual fundraising plan with guidance from the CEO.
    • Manage donor outreach and stewardship: drafting thank-you notes, appeals, and updates.
    • Build and maintain relationships with donors through meetings, events, and communications.
    • Plan and execute grassroots campaigns, including online giving and peer-to-peer initiatives.

    Grant Management

    • Lead on grant research, writing, submission, and reporting.
    • Track all grant deadlines, deliverables, and budgets to ensure compliance.
    • Maintain organized records of proposals, awards, and reporting.

    Donor Events & Campaigns

    • Plan and manage logistics for donor events (virtual and in-person).
    • Collaborate with program and communications staff to align fundraising with advocacy campaigns.

    Finance & Budget Support

    • Partner with the CEO and accounting firm to maintain the financial health of the organization.
    • Track income and expenses related to grants, donations, and campaigns.
    • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial updates, dashboards, and cash flow projections.
    • Support annual budget creation and forecasting processes.
    • Ensure grant budgets and organizational budgets are aligned and monitored effectively.

    Operations & Systems

    • Maintain accurate donor and financial data in CRM and related systems.
    • Support development of fundraising and financial materials (case statements, annual reports, dashboards).

    Qualifications

    • 2–4 years of professional experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, project management, or related fields.
    • Strong writing skills with ability to draft compelling grant proposals and donor communications.
    • Comfort with financial tracking and basic budgeting (experience working alongside accountants preferred).
    • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
    • Tech-savvy; comfortable using data systems and learning CRM tools.
    • Strong interpersonal skills; able to build and maintain donor and partner relationships.
    • Commitment to education equity and belief in the power of parent leadership and advocacy.
    • Entrepreneurial, proactive, and detail-oriented.
