    ABOUT THE MAINTENANCE COOPERATION TRUST FUND (MCTF)

    The Maintenance Cooperation Trust Fund (MCTF) is a California statewide watchdog organization that works to abolish illegal and unfair business practices in the janitorial industry. Working with enforcement agencies, the MCTF drives the process of enforcing the law to expose the unfair advantage law breakers gain over law-abiding competitors. Over the years, the MCTF has been effective in exposing systemic unfair business practices and rampant exploitation, such as wage theft, and other unlawful activity that destabilize the industry and violate workers’ rights.

    The MCTF is currently searching for a PROGRAM COORDINATOR covering our Alameda office. This is a full-time, exempt position.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Assist the Coordination Team with the overall management and administration of regional programming, including but not limited to:

    • Manage team and regional offices, including developing and implementing staff evaluations and skill strengthening plans;
    • In coordination with the team, asses & develop plans for field and case activity;
    • Coordinate efforts with workers, industry stakeholders, enforcement entities and advocacy organizations;
    • Manage and update internal databases;
    • Manage the development of investigations and cases;
    • Advocate before various agencies, with a specific focus at the California Labor Commission;
    • Design interactive training material on wage theft, and workplace harassment and exploitation and execute trainings for staff, workers, employers and agencies;
    • Develop and execute strategies for the enforcement of wage and hour law;
    • Testify at government hearings, speak with media and prepare workers’ to do the same;
    • Coordinate and manage regional data and documentation needed for program grants administration, reports, budgets and proposals;
    • Attend program meetings, training, and staff meetings when needed.
    • Manage email groups, collaborative documents, and meeting agendas and minutes.

    EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • Life experience with the janitorial industry or experience with other immigrant and low wage workforce/worker organization
    • Three or more years of work experience in investigation, advocacy, or organizing;
    • Fluent in Spanish and working knowledge of English;
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in Spanish;
    • Demonstrated commitment to transformational change, worker rights, civil rights, and social justice;
    • Self-motivated, including ability to lead a team independently, while maintaining ability to work effectively as part of a team;
    • Excellent organization, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
    • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
    • Experience working in diverse communities and environments;
    • Prior experience with database use and maintenance preferred;
    • Ability to travel both regionally and throughout the State as needed
    • Frequent night and weekend work required to meet the needs of the janitorial workforce;
    • California Driver’s License, car insurance and reliable car required.

    Benefits

    • This is a full-time, exempt position and reports to the Executive Director and Field Director;
    • Competitive salary for a nonprofit organization, $75,000 - $84,000 depending on experience;
