Notify Health is a start-up nonprofit with a big mission: to ensure all Nigerian children receive life-saving immunisations. We were incubated by Ambitious Impact one and a half years ago and are supported by GiveWell, a leading charity evaluator. Up to half of missed vaccinations happen simply because caregivers forget or don’t realise they need to return. We’re here to change that! We use simple SMS and automated voice calls to help caregivers remember and track vital vaccination appointments.

We are committed to delivering a highly impactful, cost-effective program grounded in strong evidence. To achieve this, we take a tech-driven, pragmatic approach - leveraging existing government systems and Nigeria’s widespread mobile phone use. In collaboration with partners and health workers, we collect simple details like a child’s name, birth date, and caregiver’s phone number, then send timely, targeted immunisation reminders through our mass messaging system.

We have successfully delivered our program to over 10,000 caregivers in two Nigerian States and will reach up to 20,000 caregivers by the end of the year. We are growing fast with a highly scalable solution and aim to reach millions of children within a few short years.

About the Program Development Associate Role

As Notify Health expands geographically and programmatically, we’re hiring a Program Development Associate to work directly with the founders to co-develop, test, and refine the next version of our model. 2026 is our year to become scale-ready, preparing us for rapid growth in 2027. You will define a prioritised roadmap of innovations and refinements, test them, and embed what works into core operations to improve vaccination coverage for millions of children - cost-effectively - for years to come.

This is a high-ownership role with strategic exposure, shaping program design, data, and learning systems, driving the trajectory of the organisation for years to come.

As a Program Development Associate, you’ll be a creative, analytical problem-solver who thrives in ambiguity and turns real-world data into clear decisions. You’ll design projects end-to-end, building clear theories of change, setting up lean monitoring and evaluation frameworks, running field pilots and A/B tests, and turning insights into concrete improvements. Much of this learning will be grounded in time in Nigeria, seeing the work in action through engaging with health workers, caregivers, governments, and partner organisations.

Role Responsibilities

We are a small and agile organisation, and the Program Development Associate role is designed to be an extension of program leadership. You’ll own high-impact projects that sharpen our core immunisation reminder model and its readiness to scale.

While your day-to-day work will evolve and the specific projects you take on may change over time, the core shape of your role will remain consistent and include the following:

Programs Strategy, Prioritisation, and Design

• Work with co-founders to set program goals and create a strategic roadmap of innovations to make the program scale-ready in 2027 and beyond.
• Analyse internal monitoring data, previous projects, external sources, other implementers, and academic studies to generate practical, high-leverage ideas for testing.
• For each selected idea, develop a clear theory of change, project design, and lean M&E/MEL framework to guide decision-making at the end of the project (what success looks like and how we’ll act on it).

Project Execution and Management

• Lead implementation of your projects in Nigeria in collaboration with the Program Manager and local partner organisations.
• Monitor execution quality in the field (fidelity checks, quick feedback loops) and iterate on design in response to incoming data and operational learning.

Analysis and Integration

• Analyse data from pilots, A/B tests, and the core program to generate actionable recommendations for program changes.
• Transition successful projects to be integrated into the core program, with clear SOPs, playbooks, and ownership.

Government Engagement

• For top candidates with the right skillset, engage with Nigerian government officials and other high-level stakeholders to advocate for our model and identify potentially impactful opportunities to integrate with existing systems.

About You

You’re an analytical, impact-driven problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced, unstructured environments. You love turning messy, real-world data into clear decisions - and then making those changes happen. You take initiative, communicate clearly, and care deeply about evidence and cost-effectiveness. If you’re energised by owning projects end-to-end, from design to management and evaluation, and find real satisfaction in integrating what works into programs at scale, this role will excite you.

Essential

• Master’s (or professional) degree in a relevant field (e.g. Public Health/MPH, Development Economics, Epidemiology, Medicine).
• Deep alignment with our mission and a bias toward evidence, learning, and cost-effectiveness.
• ~2 years experience owning and delivering projects or programs.
• Ability to thrive in an evolving role and navigate ambiguity.
• Highly organised with excellent time management skills.
• Living in or able to travel to Nigeria ~4 months per year.

Beneficial

• Living in a timezone within +/- 3 hours of WAT strongly preferred.
• Experience working for evidence-driven organisations (e.g., J-PAL, IPA) or learning-focused implementers.
• Background in program design, monitoring & evaluation, applied research, or implementation in global health/development.
• Lived/work experience in low- or middle-income countries.
• World-class academic recognition (e.g., Rhodes, Chevening, Fulbright) or similar signals of excellence.

Compensation

We aim to offer fair compensation aligned with local living costs and candidate experience. While salaries vary significantly by location, candidates based in the UK, EU, or US can expect a range of $25,000 to $50,000 USD (with some flexibility on upper limit for outstanding candidates who demonstrate exceptional skills and experience).

• Location: Remote (requires ≥4 hours overlap with Nigeria workday; typically within ±3 hours WAT).
• Contract: 12 months with possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

• Travel: Either already living in Nigeria or able to travel to Nigeria ~4 months per year.
