    TASK is in search of a Full-time Employment Support Assistant to join the Education & Employment Programs Team.

    The Trenton Area Soup Kitchen feeds the hungry and offers programs and services to encourage self-sufficiency and improve quality of life for people in the Greater Trenton Area. We began serving meals 43 years ago in a church basement and have since expanded to deliver over 12,000 meals each week, six days per week, at our main Escher Street building and more than 50 community meal sites across the area. Since 1982, we have never turned away anyone who has asked us for a meal. Today, we also provide case management services, job search assistance and creative arts classes, empowering those we serve to thrive, not just survive.

    Help individuals overcome barriers and achieve self-sufficiency through meaningful employment. As an Employment Support Assistant at TASK, you’ll work directly with patrons and community members seeking jobs, vocational training, and career advancement.

    In this role, you will:

    • Provide personalized guidance to address significant employment challenges, including histories of homelessness, substance use, underemployment, mental health diagnoses, and criminal justice involvement
    • Collaborate with the Workforce Readiness Manager to build and maintain a network of employer partners, creating pathways to job opportunities
    • Support a comprehensive, client-centered approach that minimizes barriers and prepares individuals for success in the workforce

    What You’ll Bring to the Role:

    • Bilingual (Spanish) fluency is a strong plus
    • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local travel
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills to connect with diverse individuals
    • Strong organizational abilities and adaptability in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
    • Deep understanding of the needs and challenges faced by the populations we serve
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a mission-driven team
    • Attention to detail and active listening skills to ensure client success
    • Comfortable with technology: MS Office, Google Workspace, virtual platforms, and smartphone apps
    • Experience using CRM systems (such as Apricot) to document and track client interactions

    Qualifications:

    High school diploma or equivalent, plus experience that demonstrates the skills and competencies needed for success in this role.

    The successful candidate should have excellent organizational skills and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for an individual who is detail-oriented and has workforce experience and who will be committed to our nonprofit mission to serve.
