    Supportive Housing Resident Facility Cook (Part-Time)

    About Ruby’s Place:

    Located in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, Ruby’s Place is CCM’s third permanent supportive housing facility and our most comprehensive to date. Serving formerly homeless individuals, the building is named in honor of Ruby Sargent, mother of CCM’s Founder, President, and CEO Emory X. Brooks. Comprising 72 units, Ruby’s Place provides stabilization and services designed to support the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and economic well-being of its residents.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or GED
    • Food Handler Certificate
    • Two years of experience as a cook preferred

    Position Overview:

    The Cook is responsible for preparing approximately 50 meals twice a week for residents of Ruby’s Place. This is a kitchen-based role that requires ensuring all meals are prepared, cooked, and presented in a safe, hygienic, and timely manner. The Cook reports directly to the Program Director.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Plan and prepare nutritious meals that meet residents’ dietary needs
    • Follow established recipes and portion sizes
    • Ensure food safety and hygiene in meal preparation and presentation
    • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including proper food storage and equipment cleaning
    • Manage food and supply inventory and place orders as needed
    • Accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies
    • Communicate with residents and staff regarding meal preferences
    • Maintain accurate records of meals served and food safety documentation
    • Comply with all applicable food preparation and safety regulations

    Pay: $23–$25 per hour

    COVID-19 Requirement:

    • Must be fully vaccinated with at least one booster
