    Job Description – Murphy Caddie Dorm Supervisor (FEMALE ONLY)

    Organization Overview:

    The Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund (DMSF) is Chicago’s largest high school scholarship-granting organization serving high potential students who demonstrate financial need. DMSF provides scholarships and programmatic support to Scholars to attend and excel at top tier high schools in the Chicago area and at boarding schools around the country.

    Program Description:

    Each summer, some of our Scholars participate in the DMSF Residential Caddie Program. Between May and August 2026 approximately 100 Murphy Caddies will live in a college dorm and caddie at nearby country clubs and golf clubs. Male Scholars reside at Lake Forest College and female Scholars live at Elmhurst University. During this eight week program, Scholars will caddie Tuesdays through Sundays, will go home on Sunday evenings, and return to caddie on Tuesday mornings. The caddie role provides an opportunity to gain job experience, earn money, improve communication skills, and qualify to apply for the Evans Scholarship - a full tuition and housing college scholarship for high-achieving caddies with limited financial means. Over the course of DMSF history, more than 390 Scholars have been awarded the Evans Scholarship.

    Position Description:

    The Murphy Caddie Dorm Supervisor (“House Mom”) oversees the daily life and well-being of students living in residence during the Murphy Caddie Program. This position will be placed at Elmhurst University, which is home to our girls Murphy Caddie Program. This position is central to creating a safe, structured, and supportive living environment. The Dorm Supervisor manages household operations, supports Scholar caddies, oversees programming, enforces rules, and acts as a liaison between caddies and program staff. The role requires strong leadership, organization, and a nurturing presence to ensure the dorm runs smoothly.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Caddie Supervision & Support: Provide guidance, mentorship, and emotional support to caddies; manage conflicts and enforce dorm rules.
    • Household Management: Oversee daily chores, cleanliness, and organization of the dorm; coordinate meal planning and grocery orders as needed.
    • Safety & Security: Ensure a safe living environment, monitor caddie well-being, and uphold safety procedures.
    • Communication: Serve as the main point of contact between caddies, DMSF Staff, and other stakeholders.
    • Record Keeping: Maintain logs of caddie activities, incidents, and household supplies.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Experience in childcare, youth work, or group living supervision.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

    • Ability to manage a household budget and take initiative in problem-solving.
    • Leadership skills with the ability to maintain order and discipline in a positive manner.
    • Ability to pass a background check.

    Work Schedule

    This is a seasonal, full-time position from May 29th, 2026 – July 27th,2026. The standard weekly schedule is Monday 5:00 PM through Saturday 5:00 PM, with flexibility required for camp activities and special events.

    Position Requirements:

    • Experience working with and supervising young adults
    • Excellent supervisory and communication skills
    • Valid driver’s license and an infraction-free driving record for the past two years
    • General understanding of the game of golf and caddying is helpful but not required

    Compensation:

    • $7,000 over the course of the summer, including room and board
