The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Board of Directors to develop and execute strategic plans, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and the needs of the refugee community. Reporting directly to the Board, the Executive Director will develop in-depth knowledge of field practices, core programs, and operational management.

This is a full-time position, requiring a 40-hour workweek. The role may involve a flexible mix of office hours, remote work, and community engagement—being visible and active within the local community to serve as a representative and advocate for CRS. The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $75,000 (commensurate with experience).

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Leadership & Management

      • Provide exemplary leadership ensuring program excellence, continuous evaluation, and quality management across finance, administration, fundraising, and communications.

      • Bring extensive experience in refugee resettlement to inform program development and organizational strategy.
      • Foster an engaging and motivating environment, actively involving volunteers, board members, staff, partner organizations, funders, and alumni.
      • Collaborate closely with the Board of Directors, serving as an ex-officio member and providing strategic counsel for both programs and operations.
      • Lead, mentor, and retain a high-performing senior management team, supporting their professional development through coaching, clear goal setting, and performance evaluation.
      • Implement systems to monitor progress, evaluate program outcomes, and communicate successes and challenges effectively to stakeholders.

    Fundraising & Communications

      • Drive efforts to expand revenue streams, including grants, individual giving, corporate sponsorships, and special events, supporting organizational sustainability.
      • Enhance visibility through strategic communications, outreach, and digital presence.
      • Cultivate relationships with local, regional, and national partners, generating new opportunities and sharing organizational successes as a model for replication.
      • Effectively communicate program impacts through compelling stories, detailed reports, media interviews, and presentations to funders and stakeholders.

    QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate is deeply committed to refugee resettlement and has extensive experience in the field. Specifically, the candidate should demonstrate:

    • Minimum of 5 years of senior management experience, with a track record in leading and scaling organizations, especially in refugee resettlement or related human services. Direct experience with refugee settlement will be given priority in the interview process and may be substituted for senior managerial experience.
      • A Master’s degree is preferred but not required (e.g., MBA, Master’s in Social Work, Public Administration, or relevant field).
      • Strong experience in strategic planning, creating actionable organizational strategies in collaboration with a Board, and driving organizational growth and impact.
      • Extensive experience in refugee program development, implementation, and best practices.
      • Robust background in fundraising, marketing, and external relations, with cultural competency and stakeholder engagement skills.
