The Gender Equality Law Center is a not -or-profit law firm and advocacy center based in Brooklyn, New York, serving for the most part low-income women, girls and members of one or more LGBTQ + communities. Our mission is to advance laws and policies that will breakdown historical barriers premised on outdated gender-based stereotypes that limit the ability of individuals to achieve a full measure of economic security and equal opportunity to advance in our society. All of our legal services are pro bono.

GELC’s programmatic work falls into three main areas:

    (1) direct legal services, including providing responses to our callers on our legal hotline and online written portal submission form, limited legal representation and full-scale litigation in a variety of federal, state and local courts and administrative agencies.

    (2) legislative and policy advocacy to help promote and pass legislation that will further protect against gender-based discrimination on behalf of women, girls and LGBTQ + individuals.
