    The Development Assistant plays a key role in supporting the fundraising efforts of Upower. This position will provide administrative, database, and communications support to ensure effective donor stewardship, accurate data tracking, and the successful execution of development activities.

    Upower is a nonprofit dedicated to providing inclusive, trauma-informed physical activity programs to youth in under-resourced communities.

    With an annual operating budget of $800,000, we are growing our team to better serve our mission and strengthen our fundraising infrastructure.

    Position Summary

    The Development Assistant plays a key role in supporting the fundraising efforts of Upower. This position will provide administrative, database, and communications support to ensure effective donor stewardship, accurate data tracking, and the successful execution of development activities.

    Key Responsibilities

    Donor Data & Database Management (30%)

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the donor CRM (e.g., Salesforce, Bloomerang, etc.)
    • Process donations and generate timely acknowledgment letters and tax receipts
    • Assist in generating reports, mailing lists, and tracking donor engagement

    Administrative Support (25%)

    • Coordinate scheduling, materials, and logistics for development meetings and donor events
    • Support the Grant Manager/Executive Director with grant tracking, filing, and follow-up tasks
    • Maintain organized development files (digital and physical)

    Communications & Stewardship (25%)

    • Draft and send donor thank-you notes, emails, and other correspondence
    • Assist in producing development-related content such as newsletters, appeal letters, and social media posts
    • Help prepare donor packets, event materials, and presentations

    Event Support (10%)

    • Support planning and execution of donor cultivation and fundraising events
    • Manage event RSVP tracking and day-of logistics
    • Work closely with Special Events Manager on Dodgeball Annual Event

    Other Duties (10%)

    • Participate in team meetings and cross-departmental collaborations
    • Provide general support as needed to help advance the organization’s development goals

    Qualifications

    • 1–2 years of administrative or nonprofit experience, preferably in a fundraising or donor relations role
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and donor databases (preferred)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Salary: $ 68,000-$75,000, commensurate with experience
