    Description

    The American Association for Justice (AAJ) works to preserve the constitutional right to trial by jury and to make sure people have a fair chance to seek justice when they are injured by the negligence or misconduct of others - even when it means taking on the most powerful corporations.

    AAJ is seeking a Manager, Trial Advocacy Education for its Education department. The Manager, Trial Advocacy Education is responsible for the day-to-day planning and execution of continuing legal education programs focused on developing and improving attorney’s trial advocacy skills. The Manager also assists in the long-range planning and implementation for colleges and budget drafting and review.

    Responsibilities:

    Programming Planning and Content Development:

    • Host planning calls with AAJ members for both in-person and virtual programs.
    • Draft program plans and agendas, ensuring compliance with AAJ policies.
    • Work with AAJ staff and consultants to oversee reference material receipt and review.
    • Communicate program logistics and requirements with faculty.
    • Work with other AAJ staff to identify potential venues, review contracts and banquet orders, and ensure program plans are economically responsible.
    • Coordinate with education and marketing staff to prepare program descriptions, promote programs, and review marketing materials.
    • Manage program content upload for the online learning platform and assess user experience. Make recommended changes.
    • Develop strategies to utilize the LMS as a member-retainment tool.

    Onsite Program Execution:

    • Travel to programs held around the country and serve as the face of AAJ to faculty and members at Education programs.
    • Meet with hotel staff and other facility staff to review program logistics.
    • Manage and train other AAJ staff traveling to programs.
    • Ensure registration and onsite logistics run smoothly and follow AAJ rules and standards.
    • Support faculty presentations, including assisting with technical questions or issues and troubleshooting problems independently.
    • Host virtual programs on Zoom, ranging from 60-minute webinars or day-long focus groups or multi-day colleges, ensuring technical accuracy and smooth attendee experience.

    Post-Program:

    • Follow-up with faculty, course advisors, and participants as needed, including hosting debrief meetings and compiling and distributing program evaluations.
    • Review hotel invoices and prepare financial summaries.
    • Conduct recap meetings with education department staff to improve performance and quality of education programming.

    Other:

    • Manage a Program Coordinator.
    • Assist in the long-range planning and implementation for colleges and budget drafting and review.
    • Make program recommendations for the following fiscal year.
    • Support AAJ at Conventions and other events as necessary.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • BA/BS required, JD a plus.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant work experience required; graduate degree may be substituted for some work experience.
    • Legal experience through education or employment history a plus.
    • Strong computer/technical skills required, including expertise using Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom, and Adobe Acrobat.
    • Experience using association management and learning management software strongly preferred; knowledge of NetForum and/or Path LMS a plus.
    • Strong proofreading skills required; writing and editing experience preferred and experience drafting marketing materials is a plus.
    • Event, program, or education planning experience are strongly preferred; event or program planning experience in a non-profit, legal organization, or association is a plus.
    • A strong commitment to the preservation of the civil justice system required.
    • Frequent travel including occasional evening and weekend hours required.

    Salary Range: $62,400 - $70,000
