    Description

    Reporting directly to the Canon to the Ordinary, who serves as Chief of Staff, the Director for Human Resources works independently to support the approximately 30 full-time and part-time employees of ECCT. The Director for Human Resources works collaboratively with management on all HR-related matters including developing and administering policies, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, recruiting, onboarding, performance management, compensation and banding strategies, training and development, and employee engagement. This role also provides HR assistance to lay and ordained leadership in the approximately 145 Episcopal parishes throughout Connecticut.

    The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    • At least a bachelor’s degree; advanced degree a plus
    • At least 3-5 years of human resources generalist or employment law experience. Human Resources management experience is preferred. Must have a broad knowledge of all areas of HR and employment law.
    • Professional certification in Human Resources is a plus
    • Membership in and/or familiarity with the Episcopal Church is preferred, though not required. Must be comfortable working in a church environment and with members of the clergy. Experience in a religious setting or nonprofit organizations is a plus.
    • Proficiency in the MS Office Suite is essential.
    • Ability to teach and oversee leadership and staff development
    • Strong writing and verbal skills
