    Job Overview

    The California Community Land Trust Network (www.cacltnetwork.org) Part-time Operations Coordinator will support operations for the Network’s activities at this exciting moment of growth for permanently affordable, democratically controlled land and housing in California. The part time Operations role will provide support for nonprofit operations, finance, and logistics in partnership with other team members.

    The Operations Coordinator will report to Co-Directors. This is a non-exempt role and will be expected to support finance and administrative operations, and also support logistics for regional and statewide convenings organized by the CLT Network. This position is highly collaborative and ideal for those with work and/or lived experience in communities most impacted by the housing affordability crisis and at least 5 years of work experience in nonprofit operations.

    About the CA CLT Network

    The California Community Land Trust Network (CLT Network) is a membership organization representing 50 Community Land Trusts across the state of California. CLTs steward permanently affordable and community controlled land and housing, creating an alternative to speculative investment and displacement in California. The CLT Network supports the work of its member organizations and communities through state level policy advocacy, member and community convenings, peer-to-peer training, capacity building, and development of financial/legal tools to enhance CLT growth in California.

    The CLT Network has a staff of four that carries out an ambitious set of community building, policy advocacy, technical assistance, and capacity building along with member organization staff and board members. In recent years, the Network has successfully organized statewide convenings, passed legislation, supported successful regional policy campaigns, organized dozens of educational workshops, grown a robust technical assistance program, and tripled its statewide membership.

    The CLT Network is committed to embedding equity, anti-racism, and social justice principles into all aspects of organizational culture and operations. The Part-Time Operations Coordinator will be expected to actively contribute to fostering an inclusive and just workplace, while advancing community ownership and housing justice for marginalized communities across the state.

    Duties

    1) Finance & General Operations

    • Vendor payments and tracking receipts, invoices, and receivables reports in Quickbooks
    • Tracking unpaid dues from membership applications and outreach to members about programs to CLTs and community ownership organizations
    • Support tracking vendor contract expiration dates
    • Manage scheduling with stakeholders, board, and membership as needed
    • Support tracking timely nonprofit compliance filings
    • Check snail mail

    2) Other tasks supporting program logistics

    • Logistics support for advocacy events and annual members' meeting logistics in March; logistics support for Fall conference and regional convenings, help organizing vetting meetings for new conference vendors & coordinate approved conference vendor payments and member reimbursements
    • Support colleagues in communications tasks, as needed: website updates on WordPress, social media (various channels), Mailchimp newsletter review, etc
    • Provide support with fundraising & grants tracking, as needed: support tracking grant reporting schedule, support tracking and sending out donor thank you’s
    • Notetaking at working group meetings, as needed; other working group support, if needed
    • Other responsibilities as assigned, consistent with a part time schedule

    Minimum Applicant Requirements:

    • Based in California
    • Not concurrently employed elsewhere for more than 20hrs/week, unless authorized in writing by a Co-Director; not concurrently attending college or graduate school
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in an operations role at an affordable housing or similar organization. Strong attention to detail, reliable follow-through, and experience maintaining strong internal systems.
    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work remotely and independently with minimal direct supervision
    • Ability to work with and support the diversity of member CLT organizations across California, and demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from diverse racial, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds
    • Willingness and ability to shift schedule and work occasional evenings and weekends, if needed
    • Generally available during agreed part-time work hrs, intentionally overlapping with the team during normal business hrs, (8am-6pm), with a somewhat consistent schedule of days & hrs from week to week
    • Ability to commit to a starting date on March 1, 2026.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Experience with Quickbooks
    • Work and/or lived experience in communities most impacted by the housing affordability crisis
    • Written and spoken fluency in Spanish
    • Familiarity with the Community Land Trust model
    • Familiarity and/or willingness to receive training in nonviolent communication, mediation, and restorative/transformative justice practices

    Location and Physical Office(s)

    Position based in California and working remotely, except for occasional in-person meetings. CLT Network can assist in identifying meeting spaces at member organizations as needed. The Operations Coordinator should expect a limited number of in-person meetings in designated cities selected for the yearly conference or other regional convenings.
