    Description

    Ariva seeks a high-energy, self-directed Communications Director to lead our communications strategy and activities. The director is an essential part of Ariva’s leadership team who will oversee and implement a wide range of corporate communications and marketing, media outreach, public relations, digital content, and social media activities that advance our communications and organizational goals. This position is hybrid (2 days remote and 3 days in our Bronx offices).

    Responsibilities

    • Work with the executive team and Board leadership to develop an annual communications plan and serve as lead staff on the plan’s implementation.
    • Serve as agency point person in working with consultants and vendors on Ariva’s marketing and fundraising projects and campaigns.
    • Work with colleagues to ensure consistent messaging and branding in Ariva’s program materials and grant proposals.
    • Coordinate Ariva’s annual fundraising event and year-end giving campaign.
    • Manage content development, editing, production and dissemination of Ariva’s print materials including annual reports, flyers, brochures. Maintain inventory of print and digital assets.
    • In coordination with Ariva’s marketing consultant, edit, repurpose, disseminate, and manage content for Ariva’s digital communications to various audiences, including social media, email blasts, website content, and blog posts. Manage editorial calendar for digital content/social media.Develop and lead communication strategies that strengthen connections with Bronx communities and partners and increase awareness of Ariva’s offices and services in the targeted communities.
    • Monitor and contribute to developing engagement strategies on social media platforms to enhance engagement and Ariva’s visibility with target audiences.
    • Coordinate tracking and reporting on results and KPIs of audience outreach.

    Core Competencies:

    • Fluent in English and Spanish
    • Five years’ experience in communications and marketing, at least one year in a non-profit setting.
    • Skilled, experienced writer and editor
    • Experience administering popular social media platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc., and management tools such as Hootsuite or Sprout Social.
    • Experience updating WordPress CMS
    • Extremely well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively with staff colleagues.
    • Cultural competency to work with immigrant communities.

    In addition to the above competencies, any of the additional skills and experience listed below are desirable:

    • Prior experience working with community-based nonprofits.
