Our services include 100% affordable housing at 21 locations, family violence services, Holocaust survivor assistance, geriatric social work, crisis intervention and the largest free kosher food distribution program in the world. Our network of 101 food pantries, affordable housing sites, and affiliated JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York City.

    Position Summary:

    The Special Projects Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between the warehouse operations team and Met Council’s specialized packing initiatives. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing packing projects that support vulnerable populations, including seniors, new mothers, and families we serve. The Coordinator ensures smooth operations by managing inventory, scheduling, and communication with internal teams and delivery partners. This position also supports the development and implementation of new projects as priorities and funding opportunities evolve.

    Principal Responsibilities:

    Program Oversight & Coordination

    • Serve as the warehouse and Brooklyn Hub representative for special packing projects, often requiring end-to-end ownership.
    • Manage packing schedules and ensure timely completion of projects for seniors, new mothers, and families served.
    • Coordinate with internal teams and warehouse or Brooklyn Hub staff to maintain operational efficiency.

    Logistics & Delivery Management

    • Organize and confirm delivery schedules with drivers and fleet partners.
    • Ensure accurate documentation of delivery routes and timelines.

    Process Improvement & Scaling

    • Identify opportunities to optimize workflows and implement best practices for packing operations.
    • Support scaling of packing initiatives as priorities and funding evolve.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Maintain clear communication between warehouse and Brooklyn Hub operations, as well as project stakeholders.
    • Troubleshoot issues related to packing, inventory, and delivery.

    Reporting & Documentation

    • Track packing and delivery metrics using digital platforms in coordination with project leaders.
    • Prepare status updates for leadership.

    Special Projects

    • Coordinate additional warehouse- and Brooklyn Hub-based projects, including volunteer-led packing initiatives and future programs requiring operational support.
    • Additional responsibilities as required.

    • Excellent stakeholder engagement and cross-department coordination skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
    • Ability to work independently while managing multiple operational projects simultaneously.
    • Familiarity with warehouse operations and logistics or willingness to learn quickly.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
    • Proven ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment with open communication.
    • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and maintain focus on key deliverables.
    • Comfort with technology and ability to learn new systems quickly.

    Skills and Education:

    • Associate’s degree (required); Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
    • 2–4 years of experience in project coordination, logistics, or warehouse operations.
    • Experience managing operational workflows and tracking performance metrics.
    • Prior experience collaborating with internal teams and external partners.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
    • Familiarity with inventory management systems; working knowledge of Salesforce (preferred).
    • Fluent in English (required); additional languages helpful.

    Special Requirements:

    • Occasional Sunday and after-hours programming.
    • Increased involvement based on agency seasonal needs.

    Compensation: $55,000 per year - $75,000 per year.
