    Description

ACT for Animals / Operation Foster ( https://www.pactforanimals.org ) is seeking a Director of Community Engagement to lead outreach, recruit fosters and volunteers, and build local partnerships that help keep pets and families together. This is a fully remote, self-directed role for someone who can design and execute strategy independently while collaborating closely with our small team to match fosters and share impact stories.

    What You’ll Do

    • Develop and implement outreach strategies to recruit new fosters and volunteers in target regions; mentor local volunteer leads.
    • Drive outreach through Facebook, Instagram, and community groups — posting stories, responding to inquiries, and keeping conversations active.
    • Build partnerships with vets, rescues, shelters, pet stores, and military or civic groups.
    • Monitor social channels daily (including limited weekends) to respond to inquiries and maintain connection.
    • Coordinate local campaigns and events that raise awareness and support recruitment.
    • Track progress and report outcomes—fosters onboarded, volunteers activated, partnerships formed.

    Who You Are

    • 3–5+ years in community engagement or volunteer management (animal welfare a plus).
    • Proven ability to build programs independently with minimal supervision.
    • Recruiter’s mindset: self-motivated to connect with new people every day.
    • Skilled with Facebook Groups, LinkedIn, and other digital outreach tools.
    • Organized, results-oriented, and genuinely passionate about helping people and pets.
    • Bonus: experience creating business posts and/or ads on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn.

    What Success Looks Like

    • 5 regional programs launched and active
    • 200+ new fosters and volunteers recruited
    • 5–10 volunteer leads trained
    • 15–20 veterinary, shelter partnerships and/or military relationships established
    • Strong digital engagement and local presence

    Why You’ll Love It

    • Autonomy: You own your strategy—no micromanaging.
    • Mission with Heart: Every foster you recruit keeps a family and pet together.
    • Remote Flexibility: Work from anywhere in the U.S.
    • Growth Potential: Opportunity to shape and grow this national expansion.

Please note that start date is flexible (site required a start date).

Also please note that social media experience is a helpful part of this but the real key will be consistently doing outreach to find and cultivate fosters and volunteers.
