    Salary Range: $64,000–$75,000/year, commensurate with experience

    The National Committee on U.S.-China Relations (NCUSCR) seeks a strategic and creative Digital Communications Associate or Senior Digital Communications Associate to join our dynamic communications team. This role is ideal for a digital media professional with strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of U.S.-China relations, and a proven ability to engage diverse U.S. audiences through compelling digital content.

    Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Associate will help shape and execute the Committee’s digital strategy, manage social media platforms, produce engaging content, and support broader communications initiatives. The Senior Associate will take on additional leadership responsibilities, including strategic planning, campaign oversight, and managing junior staff.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategic Communications & Leadership

    • Collaborate with the Director of Communications to develop and implement strategic communications plans.
    • Lead or co-lead digital campaigns that support NCUSCR’s mission and programmatic goals.
    • Manage and provide guidance to junior team members and interns.
    • Contribute to long-term planning for audience growth, engagement, and brand development.
    • Ensure digital content and messaging are tailored to reach and resonate with diverse U.S. audiences across generational, regional, and professional demographics.

    Digital Content Creation & Program Support

    • Collaborate on the creation of digital content that promotes NCUSCR programs, events, and initiatives.
    • Coordinate interviews and video production with leading experts in U.S.-China relations.
    • Collaborate with program staff to amplify the impact of NCUSCR’s work through digital storytelling.

    Social Media Management

    • Oversee NCUSCR’s presence on Facebook, X, Bluesky, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Instagram.
    • Develop and execute targeted campaigns to increase visibility and engagement.
    • Monitor current events and trends relevant to U.S.-China relations and incorporate them into outreach.

    Analytics & Reporting

    • Track and analyze performance of digital campaigns using quantitative and qualitative tools.
    • Produce biannual reports on social media growth, engagement, and advertising outcomes.

    Website & Email Communications

    • Help maintain and update the NCUSCR website (WordPress).
    • Coordinate and edit the monthly e-newsletter.
    • Support digital promotion of major public events, including invitations and targeted ad campaigns.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Monitor and promote media coverage related to NCUSCR leadership, staff, fellows, and members.
    • Ensure consistency in visual identity and writing style across all public-facing materials.
    • Assist in producing the organization’s annual report.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred), ideally in communications, international relations, or a related field.
    • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience for Associate level; 5+ years for Senior Associate.
    • Demonstrated experience in digital communications, social media strategy, and content creation.
    • Strong writing and editorial skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
    • Experience in strategic planning and team leadership.
    • Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop).
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
    • U.S. work authorization.

    Preferred

    • Broad-based knowledge of China and nuanced understanding of U.S.-China relations.
    • Mandarin proficiency.
    • Experience with Chinese social media platforms.
    • Web editing and SEO experience (WordPress).
    • Experience in international relations or nonprofit communications.

    Compensation Structure

    • Associate Level: BA with 3-5 years of experience - $64,000-$70,000/year
    • Senior Associate Level: BA with 5+ years of experience $69,000-$75,000/year

    Additional Information

    • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
    • This position is based in New York City and follows a hybrid work model.
