POSITION TITLE: Community Arts Coordinator (Full-Time)
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Associate Director of Community Arts Education
POSITION SUMMARY: The Community Arts Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, supervising, evaluating, and promoting community arts education programming for Yollocalli Arts Reach. The Community Arts Coordinator will be a key team member in building new relationships with community organizations and community members, which includes conducting outreach to local schools and other nearby institutions. They act as an ambassador for Yollocalli Arts Reach and the museum to various stakeholders and actively develop and strengthen relationships to best serve the programming, while also promoting new community arts programs through direct outreach.
SCOPE: Reporting to the Associate Director of Community Arts Education, the Community Arts Coordinator will be an experienced community organizer with the ability to support existing and upcoming programs as well as implementing new community programs at the Yollocalli Fire Station. This position will work closely with the Associate Director of Community Arts Education to build strategic relationships and develop innovative community arts programming that centers audiences we don’t currently serve through Yollocalli Youth Programming - including elementary-aged youth, families, and seniors. Responsibilities include facilitating community arts workshops, providing programmatic support and guidance to teaching artists, maintaining and updating program budgets, collaborating with Program Coordinators, and conducting outreach to foster engagement with existing and potential community partners. Yollocalli community arts programming will run throughout the year with high and low seasons.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Art Education, Social Work, Art Therapy, Arts Administration and/or Museum Studies preferred. Bilingual Spanish is required. Minimum 5 years experience in arts education, youth education, or community programming at an institution, community center, or youth serving organization. Previous experience in a leadership position is preferred. Knowledge and interest in all aspects of the Mexican and Mexican-American art experience, contemporary art practices, and art education practices. Ability to work well with others. Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends are required for this position. Must have access to a vehicle due to the travel between program sites which cover the Chicagoland area.
