    Description

    The Family & Community Engagement Specialist for National PTA’s Center for Family Engagement supports the implementation of programs and initiatives that engage families in supporting student success. The Specialist coordinates and monitors implementation and provides technical assistance to help PTA leaders participate in programming and recognition opportunities related to family-school partnerships, arts education, diversity, and other topics. The Specialist also helps the Center for Family Engagement facilitate networking opportunities and train PTAs and families at virtual and in-person events.

    Program Coordination & Monitoring: Become fluent in timelines, requirements, communications, and all other aspects of relevant programming and awards. Coordinate recognition and other components with staff and volunteers. Provide expertise to support PTAs to implement programs with fidelity. Track deliverables and follow-up with participating PTAs to ensure completion of requirements and documentation.

    Technical Assistance: Provide written and verbal guidance and problem-solving support to PTAs related to relevant programming. Manage multiple email inboxes and provide efficient and timely responses to inquiries. Support virtual office hours and communities of practice. Track requests for technical assistance and elevate recurring and unaddressed issues for additional and/or updated support.

    Facilitation & Outreach: Lead the delivery of virtual and in-person workshops, networking opportunities, and presentations for PTA and family audiences. Support the creation and updating of facilitation and training materials. Help recruit PTA leaders to participate in Center for Family Engagement opportunities. Track outreach and make recommendations for improvement.

    Administration & Project Management: Coordinate logistics, take notes, and ensure timely follow-up for meetings and events. Track and compile materials and collateral. Organize and maintain files, records, and data. Prioritize workflow, track and report progress, and ensure project completion with high-quality and attention to detail.

    Fostering Positive Culture: Create and support a positive team culture and contribute to organizational initiatives. Work within and across departments to provide and disseminate program and award information.

    • Proficiency in Spanish a plus.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
    • 3+ years of professional experience, preferably with an education nonprofit or association
    • 2 years of professional experience supporting learning and development activities

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Professional office environment in Alexandria, Virginia, currently hybrid at least one day per week in-office.
    • The position will require occasional travel and evening and weekend work.
    • Incumbent uses standard office equipment including computers, phones, etc.
    • This is a largely sedentary role and may require the ability to lift files, packages, and related materials weighing up to 20 lbs.
