    Ballard Food Bank’s mission is to bring food and hope to our neighbors because there can be enough for everyone. To achieve our mission, we provide access to nutritious foods through our grocery model food bank, Kindness Café, and Community Resource Hub, which encompasses financial resources, referral, and mail services that support self-sufficiency. We also advocate for food equity and justice. Our home, which opened in October 2021, serves as a Hub for Hope as it brings together food, services, and community partners in a one-stop shop.     POSITION SUMMARY:

    Ballard Food Bank is hiring a Warehouse Coordinator to serve as a key connection point between warehouse and community market operations and volunteer activity. This hands-on role keeps inventory moving, the space organized, and volunteers supported across a variety of tasks. It’s a great fit for someone who enjoys creating structure, working with people, and being part of a mission-driven team.

    Responsibilities:

    • Execute warehouse operations alongside staff and volunteers in a manner that fosters an energizing, cooperative environment
    • Act as daily point-person for volunteers across programs, providing training, support, and guidance
    • Maintain organization and cleanliness in the warehouse and parking lot space, facilitating set up and break down between different activities
    • Assist with food donation pick-ups, driving a food bank van or 18-foot box truck
    • Work jointly with warehouse and market team to support day-to-day operations, including unloading and moving boxes of up to 50 lbs. and operating a pallet jack
    • Receive and process food deliveries and donations according to USDA food safety protocols
    • Manage inventory storage and rotation and interface between market and warehouse to coordinate stocking needs
    • Interact with food bank clients with professionalism, compassion, and a trauma-informed lens

    Skills/Qualifications:

    • Friendly and personable and enjoys working with people from diverse backgrounds
    • Strong delegation, coordination, and communication skills
    • Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment; handles challenges or unexpected situations with a solution-oriented and collaborative approach
    • Takes initiative and works well both independently and collaboratively, using discretion and professionalism
    • Experience leading and engaging volunteers, including giving feedback and guidance
    • Valid US driver’s license with a clean and safe driving record
    • Ability to drive an 18’ box truck in urban streetscapes, prior experience preferred
    • Prior food handling, grocery store and/or warehouse experience
    • Comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, maneuvering in and out of a van or truck, and spending most of the time on your feet

    Hours: This is a full-time in-person position, working Monday through Thursday, with evening hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ballard Food Bank currently works a 35-hour work week.

    Benefits
