    Description

    Community Engagement Manager

    Richmond LAND is seeking a Community Engagement Manager to lead grassroots outreach, membership development, and public education efforts advancing community-controlled land and housing in Richmond and West Contra Costa County. This role is central to building resident power, deepening participation, and ensuring community priorities shape land-use decisions.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design and lead community outreach efforts, including canvassing, listening sessions, workshops, and public education activities
    • Grow and sustain Richmond LAND’s membership program, including recruitment, retention, leadership development, and facilitation of regular membership meetings
    • Develop and deliver curriculum and trainings on housing justice, equitable development, and the Community Land Trust (CLT) model
    • Represent Richmond LAND in coalitions, public forums, and advocacy spaces, including public comment and direct action support when needed
    • Create accessible communications and storytelling content that translates complex housing and land-use issues for the public
    • Support organizing campaigns, elections, leadership pipelines, and resident-driven decision-making processes
    • Track engagement activities, maintain program data, and contribute to reports for internal planning and funders
    • Collaborate with staff on strategic planning, work plans, and cross-organizational initiatives

    Qualifications

    • At least 2 years of experience in community organizing with low-income communities of color
    • Strong commitment to community self-determination, housing justice, and resident-led development
    • Experience facilitating meetings, trainings, or popular education spaces
    • Ability to manage multiple projects with strong communication and follow-through
    • Comfortable working evenings and weekends as needed
    • Familiarity with community land trusts, cooperatives, or grassroots housing movements preferred
    • Spanish language skills a plus

    Position Details

    • Full-time, exempt
    • Reports to the Executive Director
    • Salary: $80,000
