    Genesys Works is seeking an enthusiastic Career Navigator who can coach, motivate, and mentor program alumni as they transition from high school into college and the workforce. This role supports young professionals in developing workplace skills, navigating academic responsibilities, and building confidence as they pursue long-term career goals. The Career Navigator brings strong professional judgment, organizational skills, and the confidence to build and manage relationships with corporate partners who host our interns. This position is responsible for supporting the Genesys Works career development model with alumni, monitoring workplace performance, and collaborating with supervisors to ensure a high-quality internship experience. The ideal candidate demonstrates heart, humor, and a deep commitment to youth development and workforce equity. We are seeking a Career Navigator to join our team starting in April 2026.

    Mission

    Genesys Works is a nonprofit organization that trains and employs high school seniors to perform professional services for major corporations. Our mission is to provide pathways to career success for high school students in underserved communities through skills training, meaningful work experiences, and impactful relationships.

    Position Description

    The Career Navigator is responsible for implementing the Genesys Works NYC post-high school (Alumni) program, supporting GWNYC alumni in their post-secondary plans.

    The Career Navigator will lead, motivate, supervise, and mentor college age interns and program participants to ensure their growth and consistent performance as they persist in college and/or work towards earning a post-secondary credential.

    At the direction of the Alumni Manager, this position will ensure alumni success in the workplace and in college, supporting their growth, and addressing challenges.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide 1:1 mentorship and ongoing support to alumni across college and career pathways.
    • Support alumni with financial aid questions, including annual FAFSA and TAP completion.
    • Provide college and career coaching, including job search support, resume and cover letter updates, and job recommendation letters and references.
    • Support alumni engagement efforts, including workshops, networking events, college internship placement, and, where applicable, the conversion of college internships into high school internship opportunities.
    • Conduct outreach to ensure completion of annual alumni and program surveys and academic release forms.
    • Support alumni interns during the period of their internship, providing workplace development coaching.
    • Work one-on-one with interns to develop trusting relationships through mentoring and encouragement, facilitating long-term individual and program success.
    • Manage relationships with corporate client supervisors related to the cohort of interns to ensure high quality service and that any supervisor or intern issues in the workplace are dealt with effectively and quickly.
    • Ensure that all program data is accurately and timely input into Salesforce.
    • Maintain metrics and intern benchmarks throughout the program to measure and assure intern success in the workplace and in developing a path to post-secondary and career success.
    • Actively monitor intern performance in the workplace and deliver evaluations based on overall performance.
    • Provide guidance to interns to support a successful balance of school, work, and life during the internship.
    • With Alumni Manager, plan and execute components of alumni engagement efforts.

    Qualifications

    Qualified candidates will possess:

    • Based in NYC;
      • Effective oral and written communication skills;
      • Professional demeanor with at least 3+ years’ professional work experience in business, education, or workforce development, including demonstrated experience working with youth in underserved communities;
      • Strong presence and leadership in instructional or group setting;
      • Ability to work independently while simultaneously maintaining a team focus;
      • Strong sense of accountability for both student achievement and personal development;
      • Ability to problem-solve and manage complex student situations;
      • Ability to relate to and work with diverse populations in a variety of settings;
      • Technically proficient with computers and productivity software (MS Office, Salesforce, Canva);
      • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and occasional weekends;
      • Must pass a criminal background check;
      • College degree a plus (any major) but not required; relevant experience strongly valued;
      • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).

    Physical Requirements

    Including, but not limited to standing and sitting for long periods of time; speaking loudly and clearly; seeing and hearing both near and far away; and reaching, stooping, kneeling, and fine-finger and hand manipulation in use of a computer, chalkboard, dry erase board, or projector. Employees are required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading. Employee may be required to walk for long distances at partner schools, corporations, or other relevant sites. Most work environments are climate-controlled, open space floor plans.
