    Description

    Position Overview

    The Family Development Coach plays a central role in engaging fathers, their families, and their children through case management, group facilitation, counseling, and coordinated support services. This position is based in East Harlem and includes onsite work at various program locations and community sites. The role also involves close collaboration with community partners and program staff.

    Key Responsibilities

    Service Delivery & Group Support

      • Assist with facilitating and supporting group sessions at designated program locations, five days per week
      • Provide counseling, educational support, and family engagement services to parents and caregivers
      • Organize community-building activities and wellness initiatives for participants

    Case Management & Family Engagement

      • Develop and maintain Individual Service Plans (ISP) with participants
      • Engage co-parents and children in the ISP process as applicable
      • Maintain regular contact with participants and ensure ISP goals are active and updated
      • Track referrals, progress notes, and demographic data in required spreadsheets and systems
      • Identify and refer clients and families to relevant Community programs.

    Community Outreach & Events

      • Assist in outreach and recruitment of eligible participants
      • Organize quarterly family events and facilitate community-based programming
      • Collaborate with community-based organizations and New York City government agencies to identify resources and facilitate referrals as needed

    Compliance & Data Entry

      • Complete intake forms, pre/post-surveys, and all necessary program documentation
      • Enter accurate attendance and session data into internal tracking systems
      • Ensure program fidelity and effective communication with staff and community stakeholders

    Cross-Departmental Collaboration

      • Participate in regular team meetings, supervision, and professional development
      • Perform additional duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience

      • Preferred: A bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field and experience working with City systems such as public assistance, child support, child welfare, education, and housing

    Knowledge & Skills

      • Strong knowledge of community systems and the challenges faced by families navigating social services
      • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and verbal/written communication skills
      • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
      • Bi-lingual proficiency is a plus (not required)
      • Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to work with diverse populations

    Compensation & Benefits

      • Salary: $55,000 annually
