Position Title: Editorial Associate

Role Summary
The Editorial Associate will support APVA’s communications, editorial, and creative output across digital platforms and publications.
This role is designed for a detail-oriented and creative professional who can balance content curation, social media management, and content production.
The intern will be responsible for sourcing, shaping, and producing engaging content that reflects APVA’s mission, while also driving the production of key editorial assets such as weekly bulletins, monthly magazines, and multimedia decks.
Key Responsibilities
Content Curation – 20%
- Research, source, and curate stories, news, opportunities, and sector updates relevant to APVA’s community.
- Ensure curated content reflects APVA’s tone, values, and brand identity.
- Work with intern and content contributors, ensuring the timely delivery of articles, blogs and opinion pieces
- Track engagement and refine content selection based on audience needs and trends.
Social Media Management – 50%
- Manage the APVA’ editor digital presence by scheduling and publishing curated posts and on-demand sector updates and events on Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
- Monitor community interactions on social media and respond where appropriate.
- Work with the Communications Lead to design simple graphics (using Canva templates) for promotions, event highlights, and editorial content.
- Contribute to growing APVA’s digital footprint and audience engagement.
Content Production – 30%
- Transform APVA’s content and training materials into professional presentation decks.
- With the help of AI tools provided by APVA, produce matching audio clips for presentations and content assets.
- Manage the production of the monthly APVA Magazine on Canva, ensuring layout, design, and content quality meet professional standards.
- Assist in repurposing APVA program outputs (reports, fellowships, trainings) into accessible editorial content.
- Assist in the production of the APVA Weekly bulletin
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in Communications, Journalism, Media, English, Creative Arts, or related field.
- 0–2 years’ experience in editorial, content, or communications roles (internship experience counts).
- Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Canva and familiarity with digital publishing tools.
- Comfortable working with AI-driven tools for content, audio generation and design.
- Knowledge of social media management (Meta Business Suite, Buffer, or similar tools).
- Ability to deliver polished outputs.
