    Description

    The Williamsburg Neighborhood Nursery School (WNNS) is a small, play-based, progressive preschool on the southside of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We are seeking a creative, cooperative, warm, and dynamic lead teacher to work in our 2s program. This position runs January- June of 2026, with the possibility of continued part or full time employment. Hours are Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays 8:30-12:30. In cooperation with other teaching team members, responsibilities may include:

    • Establishing and maintaining a safe, healthy, organized and pleasant learning environment for children, teachers and parents
    • Setting an emotional tone for the room that is responsive to children, parents and teachers -Assessing the educational and developmental needs of each child
    • Planning and implementing an emergent curriculum (weekly team meetings) -Lead Circle Time, Story, and any other teacher-led times of the day
    • Supporting and providing resources for families as necessary Parent Communication
    • bi-weekly newsletters, emails, conferences and written reports 2 times a school year
    • Maintaining availability to meet with parents, either before or after school as needed The 2s teacher will approach issues and problems self-reflectively, work cooperatively with colleagues, attend staff meetings, and engage in ongoing staff development.

    Applicants should have a Masters Degree in Education, or currently in the process of completing their degree. Our ideal candidate has strong verbal and written communication skills, an interest and knowledge of progressive education, the ability to work collaboratively with a team, good organization and management skills, flexibility...and a sense of humor!
