    Glasswing International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth and communities through education, mental health, and community-based programs. With a primary focus on New York City, Glasswing partners with public schools to serve students, particularly newcomer and multilingual youth, through holistic programming that promotes belonging, well-being, soft skills and academic opportunity.

    A core component of Glasswing’s work is SanaMente, our evidence-based mental health and social-emotional learning model and training. SanaMente builds practical skills to manage stress and trauma and to create safe, supportive environments for students, educators, frontline workers, and communities.

    Position Overview

    The Director of Programs - provides strategic and operational leadership for all Glasswing programs in New York City across two primary programmatic focus areas:

    1. School-Based Youth Development and School Community Programs
    2. SanaMente Mental Health Training and Capacity-Building

    This role oversees program implementation, quality, evaluation, and growth, ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive programming. In addition to leading Glasswing’s school-based work, the Director will manage and expand SanaMente in New York City, including training and partnership-based implementation with schools, community-based organizations, service providers, government agencies, and corporate partners.

    The Director leads program staff, strengthens school and community partnerships, collaborates cross-functionally with internal teams, and advances Glasswing’s commitment to volunteer engagement, youth well-being, and systems-level impact.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program Leadership & Strategy

    • Lead the vision and strategy for Glasswing programs in alignment with it’s mission
    • Oversee two core programmatic pillars
      • School-based youth development and school community programming
      • SanaMente mental health training and expansion across New York City
    • Guide the implementation and evolution of program models, including SanaMente, after-school, lunchtime, and enrichment programming
    • Work with leadership in the consider and guidance of new initiatives that could grow from these two main components
    • Set and monitor program goals, outcomes, and impact metrics

    Program Management & Quality

    • Oversee day-to-day program operations across multiple NYC public schools
    • Lead the planning and coordination of SanaMente trainings for schools, service providers, community organizations, government agencies, and companies
    • Ensure high-quality, trauma-informed, and youth-centered program delivery across all initiatives
    • Monitor program data and outcomes and use findings for continuous improvement
    • Ensure compliance with funder requirements, school agreements, and organizational policies

    Team Leadership

    • Supervise, manage, and support program coordinators, specialists, and facilitators
    • Foster a collaborative, reflective, and equity-centered team culture
    • Support staff professional development in youth development, facilitation, and mental health practices

    School, Community & Institutional Partnerships

    • Serve as a primary liaison with school leaders, counselors, and community partners
    • Strengthen relationships with NYC public schools to ensure programs are responsive and well-integrated
    • Build and manage partnerships supporting SanaMente trainings and institutional adoption
    • Support meaningful volunteer and employee volunteer engagement in partnership with internal teams

    Budget & Operations

    • Develop and manage NYC program budgets in collaboration with US Country Director and Finance and Operations teams
    • Track expenses, staffing needs, and resource allocation across both programmatic focus areas
    • Support program-related reporting, site visits, and donor engagement as needed

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Nonprofit Management, or related field
    • 7+ years of progressive experience in education, youth development, mental health, or community-based nonprofit programming
    • Experience managing teams and programs
    • Strong understanding of social-emotional learning and/or trauma-informed practice
    • Experience working with public schools and diverse, immigrant, or multilingual communities
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
    • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practice

    Preferred

    • Experience working in NYC public schools
    • Experience leading training-based or capacity-building programs
    • Familiarity with mental health promotion models similar to SanaMente
    • Bilingual English/Spanish

    Work Environment

    This role is based in Glasswing’s New York City Financial District office and requires regular travel to Glasswing partner schools and training sites, primarily in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn.

    Benefits

    Glasswing offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. The salary range for this position is $80,000 – $90,000, and includes an ICRHA with company contribution, dental and vision coverage, 401k retirement plan with company match, life insurance, paid sick leave, vacation and holidays.
