    Description

    Founded in 1980, Child Find of America is a national not-for-profit human services organization that provides services to prevent and resolve child abduction and the family conflicts that can lead to abduction, child abuse, and runaways.

    The Intake Specialist will perform intakes for Child Find’s telephone- and email-based programs, including missing children location services, and conflict-resolution and problem-solving services for parents disputing child custody and visitation, child support, co-parenting, as well as providing guidance for other parenting issues.

    Successful applicants will:

    • Answer agency helplines and emails; conduct intakes
    • Conduct brief crisis intervention and support
    • Provide appropriate referrals
    • Note safety concerns
    • Assist in internet search efforts and research
    • Collaborate with service-related agencies and other professionals
    • Maintain computer case management and agency files as directed
    • Maintain the Information & Referral, Client, and Agency databases as directed
    • Develop/maintain program presence with referring agencies

    Skills and Abilities:

    Familiarity with some or all of the following: missing children; relationship mediation; family court; child welfare; domestic violence; child development; education system; responsible fatherhood, and at-risk/missing youth plus:

    • Highly organized
    • Team-oriented
    • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
    • Ability to take and retain direction, follow protocol, and apply to varying situations
    • Compassionate and composed telephone skills
    • Comfort with having discussions with parties in crisis and conflict
    • Computer skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google, Slack, and internet searches
    • Acumen with computerized case management and data systems
    • Investigative skills, both on the internet and via telephone
    • Capacity with client strengths-based, self-determined approach
    • Empathic and active listener
    • English fluency, Spanish a plus
    • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in related field, although consideration will be given to those without a degree with significant related experience

    Salary, Benefits, and Requirements:

    • Driver’s license and background check required.
    • All legally mandated benefits will be provided.
    • This is an hourly position, 21 hours/week, Monday through Friday. A hybrid schedule is possible after the initial six-month training period.
