    Description

    Founded in 2014, World BEYOND War is a global grassroots network advocating for the abolition of war and its replacement with a just and sustainable peace. The Europe Organizer’s primary role is to enlarge and activate World BEYOND War’s membership base in Europe, building volunteer-run chapters to do educational, activist, and media work on global, regional, and local anti-war issues. This organizer will work to strengthen the peace/anti-war movement in Europe as a whole by developing partnerships with affiliate organizations, and by working in collaboration with allies in various coalitions, new and longstanding. The Europe Organizer reports directly to the Organizing Director and works in collaboration with all other departments.

    Location: Remote (must be based in Europe)

    Position Type: Part-time (20 hours/week)

    Compensation: €1500-€2000 per month (WBW uses a location-based payscale to ensure that compensation meets or exceeds cost of living; exact pay will be determined based on the applicant's location)

    Responsibilities include, working with the rest of WBW's staff and with allies to:

    • Create, retain, and activate chapters and affiliates in Europe
    • Recruit, train, and manage WBW volunteers in Europe, including offering skills training in digital organizing tools and campaign planning
    • Plan educational and activist events in Europe
    • Design and implement strategic issue advocacy campaigns across Europe with clear goals, targets, strategies, and tactics
    • Help organize large conferences and rallies in Europe
    • Produce creative and educational content for WBW’s website, email blasts, social media, fact sheets, and press materials
    • Generate media coverage by larger outlets
    • Engage in public speaking & media appearances to amplify WBW’s message and reach a wider audience
    • Organize intersectionally across issues to form a larger movement, move others toward anti-war/pro-peace advocacy, and move pro-peace groups toward total war abolition
    • Track war and peace related issues in European Parliament and plan strategic campaigns around them, as relevant
    • Manage databases to track relationships with volunteers and allies in Europe
    • Recommend and initiate new digital tools for outreach and movement-building to improve our work and grow our grassroots network

    Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Replying in a timely fashion to emails from staff, board members, volunteers, allies, and supporters
    • Writing a short monthly report, submitted to the Executive Director
    • Scheduling and attending calls as needed with chapters and partners to advance projects and campaigns
    • Attending weekly staff calls, monthly board calls, and annual conferences on Zoom to communicate with the team about current projects and organizational operations

    Required Qualifications:

    • At least 1-3 years experience in grassroots organizing (both digital and offline organizing)
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English; fluency in other languages is an asset
    • Alignment with World BEYOND War’s mission to abolish war and establish a just and sustainable peace
    • Highly organized, and able to manage multiple projects at once without sacrificing quality
    • Experience working remotely
    • Experience working with a nongovernmental organization or in the nonprofit sector
    • Strong understanding of online and offline organizing, mobilization, and direct action
    • Able to travel nationally and internationally on occasion
    • Proficiency with email, internet, and spreadsheet software, Google Suite, Zoom, Action Network, Wordpress, social media platforms, or similar systems
    • Experience working in a multilingual context across time zones
    • Experience creating and sustaining coalitions of varying capacities
    • Experience managing complex partner dynamics
    • Experience with strategic campaign planning
    • Experience with intersectional organizing that highlights racial justice, gender justice, climate justice, and Indigenous rights a plus

    Desirable Additional Qualifications:

    • Experience as an educator
    • Experience fundraising
    • Knowledge of laws related to nonprofit organizations and fundraising
