    Position Title: Finance Manager

    Schedule: Part-time, non-exempt (12-16 hours/week)

    Compensation: $37.00 - 42.00/hour

    Benefits: Benefits not included except sick leave and those required by law

    Work Location: Point Reyes Station, CA (limited remote)

    Reports to: Executive Director

    Start Date: February 2026

    Summary

    The Finance Manager is responsible for managing, controlling, planning, and organizing the processes for finance and accounting. Their primary duties include creating and implementing financial and accounting procedures.

    Key Goals of This Position:

    • Up-to-date and accurate nonprofit financial accounting and reporting
    • Effective grant budget management in collaboration with grant leads
    • Accurate tax preparation for annual filing
    • Current and comprehensive accounting and payroll standard operating procedures (SOPs)
    • Timely payroll processing and benefits distribution

    Responsibilities:

    Bookkeeping (6%)

    • Monthly accounting and QuickBooks online entry, including accounts receivable and payable (weekly bill & contractor payments), reconciliation of bank and credit card accounts, monthly cash donation, and retail accounting and deposit preparation.
    • Inventory gift tracking

    Grant Tracking (14%)

    • Oversight of all aspects of grant accounting. Budget breakouts for new grants, maintaining the budget portion of the grant tracking spreadsheet, and quarterly budget tracking coordination meetings with staff grant leads. Quarterly salary allocations to grants and closing financials.

    Accounting & Payroll (72%)

    • Quarterly sales tax payments. Monthly meeting with the development department to reconcile accounting and development reports. Payroll processing and benefits tracking, and quarterly retirement benefit disbursements. Prepare and deliver financial reports for bi-monthly board meetings. Updating accounting and payroll SOPs.

    Annual/Year-End Accounting (8%)

    • Prepare the Annual Financial Report for membership, managing treasurer approval, and submission to the development department for final distribution to membership. Support the Executive Director in developing a timely annual budget for board approval and entry in QuickBooks. All year-end accounting & reports, and tax preparation and submission.

    Limited additional tasks as assigned, including intermittent administrative support with scheduling, data management, operations, technology, filing, etc.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience, such as a previous financial management background.
    • 5 years + professional experience in operations and finance management, supporting teams to meet organizational goals.
    • Extensive knowledge of QuickBooks Online, experience in Google Drive, and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
    • Bookkeeping skills and experience in nonprofit financial management.
    • Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting practices and grant management.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Capable of working independently and collaboratively.

    Work Environment / Physical Requirements:

      • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
      • This job operates primarily in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and scanners.
      • In addition to office-based duties, this position occasionally requires work at off-site, community-based locations. These environments may include outdoor settings with uneven terrain and may involve light hiking or extended walking during events.

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and use their hands to handle or reach for objects. This position also requires the ability to occasionally lift office supplies and event materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
