    Position: Mentally Ill Chemical Abuse (MICA) Specialist

    Location: Ruby’s Place Supportive Housing Program

    Employment: Full-Time, Salary

    Program Overview:

    Ruby’s Place is CCM’s third permanent supportive housing facility, located in Flatbush, serving formerly homeless individuals. The 72-unit residence is designed to promote stabilization and improve residents’ physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and economic well-being through targeted services and support.

    Position Summary:

    The MICA Specialist is a key member of the onsite Supportive Services Team, providing multidisciplinary interventions and goal-driven planning to assist residents. This role includes individual counseling, facilitating therapeutic and educational group sessions, and offering in-service training to program staff.

    Qualifications:

    • Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field
    • Minimum one year of experience delivering community mental health and substance use services
    • Certification or licensure in addiction counseling required
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide individual counseling focused on reducing or stopping alcohol and drug use, referring clients to appropriate CCM or external services
    • Develop and facilitate group counseling sessions addressing substance use and related issues
    • Assist clients in overcoming barriers to achieve their personal goals
    • Conduct initial intake assessments and ongoing evaluations to monitor substance use
    • Respond to on-site crises, providing counseling and referrals to emergency services as needed
    • Participate in case conferences to coordinate holistic, integrated services involving clients, families, and providers when appropriate
    • Deliver in-service training to staff on relevant substance use topics and interventions
