    Position Title: Helpdesk Community Outreach Coordinator

    Location: Worldwide (virtual office)

    Employment Type: 10-month Contract, Part-time (20 hours per week)

    Monthly Salary: $2,000 - $2,167

    Reports to: Director of Digital Rights & Security

    Position Summary: The Miaan Group is an organization providing legal and technical expertise, research, and advocacy support to organizations working on human rights in Iran and the greater Middle East. The Digital Security Helpdesk Community Outreach Coordinator will serve as the primary liaison and coordinator between the Miaan Digital Security team and our client community of Iranian civil society. This role is responsible for managing the end-to-end service delivery process, from initial contact and onboarding through final reporting and follow-up. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills and a fundamental understanding of digital security is essential. This position is remote and offered worldwide, with preference for candidates located in Washington D.C. or London.

    About Us: Miaan was launched in 2019 to provide legal expertise, digital security, research, and advocacy support to activists and civil society organizations working on human rights in Iran. Miaan's current efforts involve capacity building and advocacy on projects focused on minority rights, women’s rights, and digital security.

    About Miaan’s Digital Security Helpdesk: Our Helpdesk provides essential support in preventing and mitigating digital threats 24/7. Our services include:

    • Rapid Response: Emergency support to mitigate ongoing digital threats.
    • Digital Wellness Checks (DWCs): Comprehensive digital health assessments for organizations.
    • Preventative Services: In-depth Organizational Audits, tailored Digital Security Trainings, and assistance with implementing internal security policies.
    • Community Awareness: Urgent Community Threat Alerts and Preventative Briefs to share practical tips and awareness.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Civil Society Community Outreach and Client Management:

    • Cultivate and maintain active relationships with Iranian diaspora civil society community members to foster improved digital resilience.
    • Conduct proactive outreach and manage the intake/onboarding process for new client organizations.
    • Organize and manage regular communications and meetings with community members to discuss their needs and engagement with Miaan’s support.

    Service Coordination and Reporting:

    • Coordinate the A-Z logistics of Digital Wellness Checks (DWCs) and other preventative services, scheduling engagements between clients and Miaan’s in-house trainers.
    • Draft and finalize comprehensive assessment reports for DWCs and other preventative services, synthesizing technical findings from trainers into clear, actionable recommendations and roadmaps for clients.
    • Ensure timely delivery of final reports and manage follow-up communications related to implementing security recommendations.
    • Manage efficient communication and hand-offs related to our 24/7 rapid response helpdesk.

    Awareness and Partnerships:

    • Oversee the management and distribution of Miaan’s newsletter, which includes Community Threat Alerts and Preventative Briefs.
    • Help to manage and grow relationships with existing and new partner organizations.
    • Perform other relevant tasks as required to support the Digital Security team.

    About You:

    • Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public policy, international relations, law, computer science, or relevant areas. Otherwise, comparable professional experience.
    • Experience: 3+ years of demonstrated experience in a coordination, project management, or client-facing role, preferably within the nonprofit, human rights, or related technology sectors.
    • Digital Security Knowledge: Basic knowledge and demonstrated fluency in concepts related to digital rights, digital security best practices, online privacy, and common cyber threats.
    • Core Competencies: Superior organizational, project management, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Must be extremely organized and deadline-oriented.
    • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively translate technical information into accessible, non-technical language.
    • Extremely organized and deadline oriented, with strong project management skills.
    • Fluency in English required, proficiency in Persian is highly desirable.

    Pay & Benefits:

    Pay varies depending on experience and location.

    This role will begin part-time (20 hours/week) and will be assessed for conversion to a full-time (40 hours/week) position after a three-month probationary period, contingent upon performance and available funding.
