    Description

    Summary of the Position:

    The Senior Associate, Finance (Budgeting & Grants) plays a critical role in ensuring Women Deliver’s financial integrity, grant compliance, and effective budget management in support of its advocacy mission. Reporting to the Director, Operations, this role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing grant budgets and reporting, and supporting organization-wide budgeting and forecasting.

    The Senior Associate serves as a key point of contact for day-to-day financial operations related to grants and departmental budgets, translating complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for non-finance colleagues and ensuring donor and regulatory requirements are consistently met.

    Accountabilities:

    Budgeting & Financial Analysis

    • Support the annual organization-wide work planning and budgeting process.
    • Develop and maintain departmental budget tools and project budgets.
    • Prepare monthly budget vs. actual reports and variance analyses in partnership with program and department teams.
    • Lead quarterly re-projections and support ongoing forecasting, ensuring alignment with revenue, donor commitments, and organizational priorities.
    • Conduct monthly budget check-ins with department leads and budget focals.
    • Prepare clear financial analyses and reports for management and internal stakeholders.

    Grant Management & Donor Reporting

    • Manage grant budgets and perform regular grant reconciliations.
    • Support the full grant lifecycle, including proposal budget development, donor financial reporting, and grant close-out.
    • Prepare donor-facing financial reports and budget narratives in coordination with program and External Relations teams.
    • Track multi-year grant revenue and pipeline projections.
    • Ensure accurate allocation of personnel and shared costs in line with donor requirements.

    Financial Operations & Systems

    • Collaborate with accounting colleagues to process expense reclasses, grant allocations, and ensure accurate coding.
    • Serve as administrator for key financial and administrative systems and support organization-wide rollouts of new financial tools and processes.
    • Develop and maintain training materials and provide finance-related onboarding support.
    • Support internal contract review to ensure costs align with approved budgets.
    • Maintain key finance and reporting calendars and deadlines.

    Audit & Special Projects

    • Support audits, donor due diligence, and other external financial requests, including financial analysis related to IRS filings.
    • Conduct financial analysis related to Women Deliver’s Annual Report.
    • Complete special projects and ad hoc analyses as assigned.

    Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge:

    • 4–6 years of experience in financial planning, budgeting, grants management, or financial analysis, preferably in a nonprofit or advocacy organization.
    • Experience managing restricted grants and donor reporting requirements.
    • Advanced Excel skills; experience with systems such as QuickBooks, ADP, Concur, Box, or Asana preferred.
    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance audiences.
    • Highly organized, collaborative, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
    • A collaborative spirit and the ability to work with colleagues across the organization.
    • Commitment to fostering an anti-racism and inclusive workplace required.
    • Ability to travel, internationally and domestically, as required.
    • Work authorization is required for the location in which the selected candidate is based.
