    Description

The Content Specialist will shape how thousands of talented professionals discover their highest-impact path to helping animals. You'll translate AAC's research, programmes, and alumni successes into compelling narratives that drive action — whether that's applying to our programmes, shifting career trajectories, or making better-informed career decisions.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and collaborating closely with the Growth Specialist and UX Researcher, you'll apply AAC's evidence-driven approach — testing what resonates, scaling what works, and pivoting when data shows a different path. Your primary focus will be website content and LinkedIn thought leadership, while managing distinct content streams for different AAC initiatives, adapting your voice to each project while maintaining overall narrative coherence.

Every piece of content you create serves our mission: directing top talent toward roles where they'll create maximum change for animals.

    Core responsibilities

    Content strategy and execution

    Strategic Focus (30%):

    • Conduct a comprehensive content audit and develop AAC's content strategy
    • Ensure all outputs align with strategic goals and brand voice
    • Quarterly strategy refreshes based on performance data (provided by Growth Specialist) and programme needs
    • Monthly content planning

    Content Creation (70%)

Transform knowledge into content that drives career actions:

    • Produce content that drives programme applications and career decisions across the website and LinkedIn
    • Manage content for multiple AAC initiatives (e.g., Impactful Policy Careers Accelerator), adapting to each initiative's distinct tone of voice while maintaining narrative coherence
    • Transform complex research, alumni stories, and team expertise into compelling narratives and thought leadership pieces
    • Leverage AI tools to accelerate production — from transcribing interviews to drafting initial content — while ensuring quality and authenticity
    • Create templates, guidelines and systems that enable team members to contribute content efficiently
    • Continuously optimise existing content based on performance data

    Platform-specific execution:

    Website content (60%)

Guide professionals from discovery to action through clear, compelling content:

    • Audit and improve existing website content for clarity, accuracy, and engagement
    • Write and optimise content that guides users through their journey, from initial discovery to programme applications
    • Develop and refine copy for programme pages, research summaries, and impact stories that convert interest into action
    • Collaborate with design and technical teams to ensure content and user experience work seamlessly together
    • Apply SEO best practices to improve discoverability and search rankings

    LinkedIn (30%)

Position AAC as the authority on talent in animal advocacy:

    • Design and lead the thought leadership strategy
    • Plan, write, design and publish content that builds credibility with target audiences
    • Foster community engagement by responding to comments, joining relevant conversations, and amplifying key messages
    • Support recruitment outreach and partnership development when needed

Other platforms and content formats (10%)

    • Email marketing: Review and optimise newsletter content and automated flows, ensuring consistency with content across all platforms
    • Video storylines: Develop compelling storylines and scripts in collaboration with our video editor

    Content amplification & partnerships

After establishing core content systems, you'll multiply AAC's reach by building strategic relationships and distribution channels beyond our owned platforms:

    • Developing content exchange partnerships with aligned organisations, creating mutually beneficial opportunities to reach new audiences
    • Identifying and securing guest posting opportunities in high-impact publications and platforms aligned with our target talent
    • Building relationships with movement leaders and subject matter experts to co-create thought leadership pieces
    • Supporting organisations wanting to translate or adapt our content for their audiences, ensuring quality and message consistency
    • Creating systems for AAC alumni and programme participants to become content ambassadors, sharing their stories and insights

    You'll know you're succeeding when:

    • Your content measurably increases qualified programme applications
    • Readers regularly report that our content has helped them take concrete career actions
    • You can point to specific pieces that shifted community conversations about talent and impact

    Ideal candidate profile

    Required Capabilities:

    • A minimum of 2 years of experience in content strategy and creation across web and social platforms (experience adapting tone of voice across different clients or projects is a plus)
    • Exceptional writing skills with proven experience making complex topics accessible and improving content clarity across digital platforms
    • Track record of using data to drive content decisions and improve performance
    • Proven experience building LinkedIn presence and/or brand thought leadership
    • Ability to interpret performance data and translate insights into content improvements (technical data extraction will be handled by the Growth Specialist)
    • Ability to spot stories and angles others miss
    • Basic design skills using Canva templates

    Nice-to-Haves:

    • Email marketing experience
    • SEO content skills (keyword research to identify content opportunities, on-page optimisation techniques, and strategic internal linking)
    • Familiarity with AIEO (AI Engine optimisation) principles
    • Video script development
    • LinkedIn recruitment/sourcing support

    Personal Attributes:

    • You're energised by evidence — eager to test bold content approaches and equally ready to pivot when data points elsewhere
    • You see feedback as data, not judgment — both giving and receiving it directly
    • You can work autonomously while keeping others informed and involved
    • You think in systems and workflows — designing efficient ways for knowledge to flow from our team to our audience
    • Deep alignment with the mission and values of Animal Advocacy Careers and a passion for helping others build impactful careers in animal advocacy
