    POSITION SUMMARY

    Working closely with the Director of Advancement, the Advancement Manager will assist with the agency’s annual fundraising efforts. They will support and contribute to the LA Promise Fund’s special events, general development and grants.

    This position will report to the Director of Advancement, as part of the Advancement and Communications team, and will work collaboratively with all LA Promise Fund headquarters and school-based staff. This is a full-time, exempt position.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    • Manages the compliance of all funds received including ensuring relevant information entered and maintained in our Salesforce or other systems as well as funder portals.
    • Manages the systems of fundraising like Salesforce, Google Drives lists, Classy, Mailchimp, and more
    • Writes concept papers, LOIs, Prepares Decks, materials, etc. for all corporate and individual funders, occasionally foundations
    • Interfaces with LAPF and School staff on implementation and compliance, monitoring, reporting, budget monitoring, funds receivable
    • Writes all reports to funders and submits upon supervisor approval
    • While a grant writer is retained on staff, all members of the advancement team will grant write as needed to meet competing deadlines.
    • Completes corporate and individual portal or material requests
    • Meets regularly with each department and the school to review their funding obligations, list of grants, progress monitoring, obtain data for grant applications or reports, etc.
    • Assists with Special Events
    • Prepares all tax-exempt letters annually working with finance and other relevant individuals
    • Participates and contributes to team meetings, staff meetings, board meetings, strategic planning
    • Other duties as assigned

    CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
    • 2-4 years of experience in development, especially corporate, individual and foundation giving
    • Special event and volunteer management experience highly valued
    • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective fundraising strategies
    • Experience and established relationships with prospective funders
    • Experience in the public sector and/or in external affairs
    • Experience managing a staff/team, highly preferred

    • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Innovative thinker who can contribute to continuous improvement of protocols, policies and operating procedures
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
    • Exceptional written and oral communication as well as interpersonal skills
    • Experience identifying, attracting and retaining corporate funders through a solid account management system and engagement protocol
    • Articulate, professional demeanor with strong self-confidence and initiative
    • Excellent computer skills including database, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, and online communications; Google Suite, Salesforce and Adobe experience a plus
    • Ability to work in dynamic, demanding, fast-paced environment
    • Knowledge of public education and experience with K-12 schools is a plus

    • Must clear a LiveScan criminal background check
    • Must clear a TB Risk Assessment
    • Must complete Mandated Reporter training
