    Description

    Acton Congregational Church (ACC) is seeking to fill the key role of Church Administrator in our friendly, active office. Reporting to the senior minister, this individual will be a self-starter with great ideas to help our church run efficiently so we can serve the community and seek to live God’s love. Located in the heart of the town’s center, ACC is an Open and Affirming church that welcomes all—and our church administrator is the public-facing embodiment of that welcome. In that sense, you are a people person who can still set clear boundaries and get things done. The individual who fills this position will work collaboratively with an office assistant, facilities manager, finance specialist, church committees, and church volunteers.

    Key responsibilities:

    Works closely with the senior minister and staff, managing the church’s daily activities and operations, including

    • Provide administrative support to the senior minister as needed
    • Collect and code invoices, donations and pledges, rental income, and reimbursement requests, working with financial services provider and church treasurer
    • Track and forward stewardship pledges to Stewardship Committee/Trustees during annual pledge drive
    • Serve as an initial point of contact for inquiries from potential renters of church space
    • Work with custodian as needed to ensure church is ready for Sunday worship, special events, and outside renters
    • Prepare supporting online materials for worship livestream
    • Coordinate volunteer and program signups as needed, working collaboratively with church members
    • Coordinate and publish bimonthly e-newsletter; utilize social and traditional media to promote community-facing events
    • Maintain church records and minutes; assist with creation of the annual report
    • Maintain the annual church calendar and task lists for daily, seasonal, and special events, including funerals and weddings; manage signups for church activities as needed
    • Coordinate room assignments, Zoom meetings, AV support, supplies, and furniture setup for church programs
    • Administer CORI/SORI program screening of church volunteers
    • Record and maintain membership rolls using church database program

    Required skills:

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred with three years minimum experience in an equivalent role
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills; simple graphic design and proofreading skills a plus
    • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and good humor
    • Commitment to inclusion, confidentiality, and teamwork
    • Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new application software; we currently use Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and Servant Keeper church database software
