Founded in 1999, the New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault’s mission is to prevent sexual violence and reduce the harm it causes through education, research, and advocacy.
The Alliance works closely with rape crisis programs, victim service providers, hospitals, District Attorney’s Offices, law enforcement, court officials, and leaders across New York City to develop and implement best practices and policies, raise public awareness, and create sustainable change for survivors. Through training, advocacy, and research, the Alliance has been an active force in fighting for recognition of the magnitude of sexual violence in New York City.
As the organization grows, our reach increasingly extends across New York State, supporting statewide initiatives, partnerships, and survivor-centered systems change.
Position Overview:
The Manager of Training and Technical Assistance oversees the implementation and management of the Alliance’s training and technical assistance and prevention portfolio, ensuring high-quality execution, consistency across programs, and alignment with organizational priorities and funder requirements.
This role is responsible for supervising staff and/or consultants delivering training and technical assistance, coordinating program implementation, and supporting continuous improvement across initiatives. The Manager translates organizational strategy into operational plans, monitors progress toward deliverables, and ensures offerings are responsive to the evolving needs of rape crisis programs, healthcare partners, community-based organizations, and allied systems. In this role, the Manager also directly contributes to program delivery by developing and facilitating initiatives that advance sexual violence prevention across youth, higher education, and nightlife settings, and by leading training and technical assistance on evidence-informed best-care practices for hospitals, rape crisis programs, community-based organizations, and allied systems.
Working in close partnership with the Deputy Executive Director, the Manager supports programmatic scale, cross-program coordination, and staff development, while centering survivor-centered, anti-oppression, and equity-informed practice.
Specific responsibilities inherent to the position include:
Training and technical assistance management
- Oversee the day-to-day implementation of the Alliance’s programs and ensuring activities are delivered on time and in accordance with approved work plans.
- Develop and facilitate programs and initiatives related to:
- the prevention of sexual violence among youth, on higher education campuses, and in nightlife spaces (e.g., bars, restaurants, venues); and
- the delivery of training and technical assistance on evidence-informed, best-care practices to hospitals, healthcare clinics, rape crisis programs, college and university communities, human services providers, and community-based organizations.
- Coordinate training and technical assistance and general training efforts across multiple program areas and audiences to promote consistency and quality.
- Monitor emerging trends, evaluation feedback and partner feedback to ensure offerings remain relevant and effective.
Staff supervision and operational support
- Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance support to program staff, and/or consultants
- Support staff with project planning, workload management, and problem-solving to ensure strong execution.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable team culture grounded in equity and professional growth.
Grant execution and compliance
- Support the implementation of grant-funded programs by tracking deliverables, timelines, and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with the Deputy Executive Director and Director of Operations on work plans, scopes of work, and budgets related to all grants.
- Ensure compliance with funder expectations and support staff in preparing accurate program documentation and reports.
Quality improvement and coordination
- Promote coordination across training, technical assistance, prevention, and response initiatives.
- Use evaluation data, needs assessments, and partner input to inform program improvements.
- Identify operational challenges and escalate issues with proposed solutions.
External engagement and organizational contribution
- Represent the Alliance in meetings with partners, funders, and technical assistance recipients, as appropriate.
- Support relationship-building with rape crisis programs, hospitals, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with communications and development staff to support program visibility and sustainability.
- Participate in organizational planning, staff meetings, retreats, and cross-team initiatives.
- Inform Alliance policy and advocacy efforts as they relate to training, technical assistance, and systems change.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- 8+ years of professional experience in sexual violence, gender-based violence, public health, or a related field.
- Direct service experience working with and advocating for survivors of sexual violence, including experience serving as a hospital advocate, supporting survivors through the Sexual Assault Forensic Examination (SAFE) process, and providing longer-term advocacy as survivors navigate medical, legal, and other systems.
- Demonstrated experience managing or coordinating training and/or technical assistance initiatives.
- At least 4 years of experience supervising staff and/or consultants.
- Demonstrable experience facilitating in-person and virtual presentations and group trainings for diverse professional audiences.
- Experience developing and facilitating programs related to sexual violence prevention and response.
- Strong knowledge of sexual violence prevention and response frameworks, systems, and evidence-informed best practices, with the ability to integrate this knowledge into training and technical assistance efforts.
- Experience implementing grant-funded programs and tracking deliverables.
- Strong project management, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Commitment to survivor-centered, anti-oppression, anti-racist, and equity-informed practice.
- Experience working with rape crisis programs, healthcare systems, or statewide training initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in public health, social work, education, gender studies, or a related field.
- Experience with evaluation, needs assessment, and quality improvement processes.
- Certified rape crisis counselor in compliance with New York State Department of Health.
- Familiarity with nonprofit budgeting and contract management.
- Experience working in hybrid or remote team environments.
Compensation:
- Compensation for this position is $95,000

Working Environment:
The organization operates at a full-hybrid capacity. Staff will have access to flexible, hybrid work schedules, though in-person meetings throughout New York City and State will be required.
