    Rate: $28 - $34/hour

    BACKGROUND

    Friends of Bogardus Plaza seeks a part-time Administrator to provide organizational administrative support, oversee plaza operations, coordinate community events, and maintain relationships with stakeholders. This role combines hands-on plaza management with administrative support, fundraising coordination, and community communications. The Administrator will work closely with and support the Board of Directors in maintaining Bogardus Plaza as a vibrant, well-maintained hub for the local community. This opportunity requires frequent on-site presence at Bogardus Plaza (TriBeCa).

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Plaza Operations & Maintenance Conduct regular plaza inspections and coordinate with service providers (including cleaning crews, exterminators, and plumbers) and the plaza food kiosk operators. Maintain the plaza clock, recognize and report broken furniture, overflowing trash, poor plant health and other conditions as needed.
    • Event Coordination Support the planning and execution of multiple public events, including obtaining permits, managing event promotion, coordinating volunteers, overseeing event logistics, and handling post-event follow-up and documentation.
    • Fundraising Manage fundraising appeals, including writing, design coordination, printing, and mailing. Process and acknowledge incoming donations. Research and pursue institutional funding opportunities. Maintain the donor database.
    • Communications Respond to incoming inquiries, update the website and social media accounts.
    • Administrative & Board Support Maintain organizational files and records, coordinate and attend board and committee meetings, taking minutes/notes, and coordinating follow-up. Other general administrative tasks, as needed.
    • Community Relations Serve as a liaison with community partners (e.g. The Horticultural Society) and respond to inquiries from NYC agencies (e.g. DOT, Dept. of Sanitation, City Council, Community Board 1).

    SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

    • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, and a high degree of attention to detail
    • A self-starter, comfortable working independently, with strong follow-through
    • Experience with event planning and community engagement preferred
    • Proficiency with digital tools including social media platforms (TikTok, Instagram), email marketing tools (Constant Contact), website content management, and database management
    • Grant writing and fundraising experience preferred
    • Comfortable with hands-on work and outdoor responsibilities
