    Description

    Position Overview

    The Development & Communications Associate supports donor stewardship, fundraising, and storytelling that highlights the impact of Star Kids’ mission. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys writing, organizing information, sharing stories, and building relationships through communications and development work.

    You’ll collaborate with the Executive Director and program staff to maintain accurate donor records, craft compelling content, and ensure that our supporters feel appreciated and connected.

    Key Responsibilities

    Donor Relations & Stewardship

      • Manage donor records and maintain accurate information in the eTapestry database.
      • Produce timely and high‑quality donor acknowledgment letters.
      • Prepare donor packets and materials that creatively highlight our mission.
      • Create bi‑annual donor impact reports to showcase student accomplishments and program success.
      • Communications & Storytelling
      • Assist with drafting student, alumni, and donor spotlight stories for newsletters and marketing materials. [Developmen...Jan. 2026 | PDF]

      • Collaborate on email newsletters, appeal letters, and communication campaigns.

    Grants & Fundraising Support

      • Maintain the grant calendar and assist with assembling grant reports. [
      • Provide support for annual fundraising events, including logistics, communications, and donor engagement.

    Qualifications

    Required

      • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, public relations, or related field (or relevant experience).
      • 1–3 years of experience in donor relations, development, marketing, or communications.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
      • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.

    Preferred

      • Experience with CRM systems (eTapestry is a plus).
      • Familiarity with Canva, Constant Contact, or similar platforms.
      • Experience in nonprofit fundraising or communications.
