    About ALIMA

ALIMA (The Alliance for International Medical Action) is a humanitarian medical organization founded in 2009 to address critical gaps in healthcare delivery in some of the world’s most underserved and conflict-affected regions. Headquartered in Dakar, with offices in Paris, New York and London, ALIMA currently operates emergency medical programs across 13 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and Haiti. Our model combines direct medical action, partnerships with local medical organizations, and cutting-edge research to transform humanitarian response and improve patient outcomes.

Nearly 90% of ALIMA’s programs operate in conflict zones, serving the most vulnerable communities—children, women, refugees, and displaced populations. Our mission is simple yet profound: to ensure that everyone, regardless of where they live, has access to quality health services.

    The Role

ALIMA USA, based in New York City (Flatiron/Chelsea), is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Development Associate to support its fundraising and donor engagement efforts. This role is ideal for someone with at least 2-3 years of experience in the non profit sector, passionate about global health and humanitarian action, and eager to take on meaningful responsibility within a small, collaborative team.

The Development Associate will play a key role in donor outreach, prospect research, grant reporting, and general development operations, while also supporting broader fundraising activities, events, and donor stewardship.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support donor stewardship through grant reporting, presentations, and written updates
    • Track donor interactions and maintain accurate records in the CRM

    Board & Events Support

    • Support online fundraising, workplace giving, and matching gift processing
    • Provide general administrative support, including meeting notes and internal documentation

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • 2–3 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, or a related role
    • Strong interest in global health, humanitarian aid, or international development
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong research, organizational, and time-management skills
    • Ability to multitask, prioritize across multiple projects, and manage competing priorities independently in a small-team environment.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems
    • Close attention to detail and a collaborative, “no task too small” mindset
    • Knowledge of French is a plus
    • Authorization to work in the United States (ALIMA is not able to provide visa)
    • Be based in the New York City area or able to commute to the NYC office weekly.
