    Description

Civic Bridge engages to preserve and broaden the political space for democratic governance, including respect for the rule of law, fact-based information and pro-democratic policies. Civic Bridge works to broaden the appeal of truth, values and facts at a time of shrinking democratic space and authoritarian narratives. The rule of law and democratic governance are prerequisites for maintaining and implementing an ambitious climate agenda and engaging our societies on the path of a socially just energy transition.

As Political Manager for France, Spain and Italy, you will be Civic Bridge’s lead across this strategically important cluster. You’ll be responsible for tracking national political dynamics, shaping our engagement strategies, and building trusted relationships. This includes not only political parties and institutions, but also business associations, trade unions, faith communities, sports associations, and cultural organisations with influence in public life.

You will lead the development and execution of national political strategies in each country, working closely with internal teams and external partners to identify opportunities and openings, craft engagement plans, and shape the broader strategic direction of Civic Bridge’s work. These strategies will ensure that campaigns, research, and communications are aligned with national realities and designed to shift both elite and public narratives.

You will work closely with the Political Director and collaborate with our campaign and research teams.

    How you'll contribute

    1. Political Insight & Analysis
    • Monitor and interpret political developments in France, Spain and Italy, relevant to climate, democracy, and anti-democratic dynamics.
    • Track shifts in public sentiment and institutional alignment across political, labour, faith-based, and cultural sectors.
    • Provide briefings and strategic recommendations to the Civic Bridge leadership and partner teams.
    • Contribute to regional and EU-wide political analysis, ensuring alignment with national contexts.
    1. Political Engagement & Relationship Building
    • Build and maintain relationships with political advisors, state, regional and local officials, business associations, trade unions, religious representatives, and civic society actors.
    • Engage with cultural institutions and non-political actors (e.g. sports clubs, community organisations) to broaden the coalition for climate and democracy.
    • Serve as a credible interlocutor across political and social lines to advance democratic, pro-climate policy.
    • Represent Civic Bridge in key political and cross-sector strategy spaces.
    1. Strategic Delivery & Coordination
    • Design, implement, and drive national political strategies tailored to each country.
    • Collaborate with campaign and research teams to ensure political intelligence is reflected in content, messaging, and tactics.
    • Identify and respond to emerging political flashpoints and windows of opportunity.
    • Support alignment between Civic Bridge’s work and national partner organisations.

    Our ideal candidate has

    • Deep familiarity with the political landscapes of France, Spain and Italy.
    • Experience working with or alongside trade unions, religious or faith-based networks, and cultural or civic institutions.
    • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and strategic thinking skills.
    • Ability to distil complex political situations into actionable insights.
    • Fluent in English and at least one additional relevant language (French, Spanish, Italian).
    • Existing networks within national parties, political institutions, or the broader civic ecosystem.
    • Exposure to anti-democratic threat monitoring or response work.
