About California Justice Leaders
A first-of-its-kind AmeriCorps program that began in 2019, CJL is designed to engage young adults who’ve successfully transitioned back into their communities after having had contact with the justice system.
Through AmeriCorps, CJL employs young adults for a year of service. These AmeriCorps Members will have had prior involvement with the criminal justice system, will likely have experienced confinement and will have demonstrated successful re-entry into their communities. At their AmeriCorps placement site, each Member serves as a navigator for youth and young adults currently in or released from California’s juvenile facilities.
About LeadOn
Los Angeles County-based program designed to engage young adults who have transitioned back into their communities after having had contact with the justice system. LeadOn participants work at a partner CBO and receive training and professional development to serve as re-entry navigators to youth and young adults who are currently in or have recently been released from California’s detention facilities. Participants also work directly with staff at assigned CBO on site-specific tasks.
