    Description

    Position Summary:

The Executive Director is a passionate and strategic leader who will drive the mission of Soaring forward. This individual will work primarily in the U.S. and be responsible for the organization’s operations, including fundraising, financial management, and staff leadership. The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors, Missions Director, and key stakeholders to advance the organization’s mission and ensure the long-term sustainability of its programs.

    You:

Are driven by purpose and inspired by the chance to create lasting impact in Haiti. You see this as more than a role—it’s a calling to lead and expand a life-changing mission that empowers individuals, strengthens communities, and brings hope to those in need. As Executive Director, you will help shape the future of a growing movement that is transforming lives every day.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Fund Development - 60%

You will develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy focused on diversifying revenue streams. In addition to overseeing the identification, application, and management of grants, you will cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors while working with the team to track donations and keep donors informed of our impact. You’ll set ambitious fundraising targets and work with our dedicated Board and staff to meet or exceed these goals while supporting and overseeing fundraising events and campaigns, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and goals. By identifying and building relationships with potential major donors, institutional partners, and corporations, you will help secure the long-term sustainability of our funding sources and ensure financial stability for continued program operations.

    Strategic Direction & Organizational Development - 30%

You will ensure that our strategic goals are in line with our mission of improving the lives of Haitian people, particularly focusing on health, education, and community development. You will report directly to the Board of Directors, providing regular updates on fundraising progress, strategic initiatives, and financial health, in addition to supporting the Board in governance and fundraising efforts. By providing high-level guidance on key programmatic decisions, you will ensure our programs remain impactful and sustainable. And as the face of our organization, you will build and nurture impactful relationships with key stakeholders and partners. This will include providing guidance and ensuring execution for marketing and communications through internal staff capacity or contractual support.

    Financial Management & Compliance - 10%

You will collaborate with the Board to ensure the organization operates within budget and meets all financial reporting and compliance requirements. By ensuring that funds are allocated efficiently, you will maximize our impact in Haiti while maintaining robust financial health for the overall organization.

    Benefits

    • Work remotely from anywhere in the U.S.
    • Competitive salary based on experience, with benefits and performance-based incentives.
    • Travel: Occasional U.S.-based travel will be required for Board meetings and fundraising efforts. Though Soaring employs a robust on-the-ground staff in Haiti, occasional travel to Haiti may be required to help the Executive Director learn about and stay connected to the programs, people, and facilities in the Cap Haïtien area.
