    Location:

    The daily place of work for this position is the ROMP Global office in Zone 10 of Guatemala City, Guatemala. This position will require frequent travel in Guatemala and to Ecuador and the United States throughout the year.

    Background:

    Millions of people worldwide are left immobile by an amputation because they don’t have access to prosthetic care. ROMP’s mission is to ensure access to high-quality prosthetic care for underserved people, improving their mobility and independence. We operate fully-integrated prosthetics clinics in Guatemala and Ecuador, using 95% recycled components. We also provide community-based rehabilitation services to our most vulnerable patients. ROMP is a US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with branches in Guatemala and Ecuador.

    Purpose:

    The purpose of this role is to build and lead a new, multicultural Development Department at ROMP, helping to increase financial resources in all countries of operations, enabling the long-term financial sustainability of the organization. Specifically, the Development Director (DD) will create a multicountry development plan that raises funding through special campaigns, individual donors, and corporate partners.

    Reporting:

    The DD reports directly to the Executive Director (ED) as a member of the ROMP Global Executive Team.

    They are responsible for supervising all development and communications staff and contractors, as well as any further additions to the growing Development Department.

    The DD works closely with the Guatemala and Ecuador Country Directors (CDs), the Chief Program Officer (CPO), and the Administrative Director (AD). Approximately 25% of their time will be focused on development in Guatemala, 25% in Ecuador, and 50% in the United States.

    Responsibilities:

    The DD will work with the ED and the Board of Directors to set annual fundraising goals and to develop a strategy to meet those goals.

    Areas of responsibility for the DD include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Development strategy: Creation of a multicountry development plan for the United States, Guatemala, and Ecuador. Specifically: understanding country needs, creating budgets, designing fundraising approaches, and guiding the ED/CDs in execution.
    • Campaign management: Creation of annual and special fundraising campaigns. Specifically: setting campaign goals, developing campaign messaging and graphic design, coordinating communications, tracking progress, and evaluating impact.
    • Donor relations: Management of relationships with individual donors. Specifically: researching prospects, building relationships, hosting field visits, soliciting donations, making acknowledgements, and updating the CRM system.
    • Corporate relations: Management of relationships with corporate partners. Specifically: corporate networking, grant proposals, coordinating logistics and communications, tracking commitments, and impact reporting.
    • Development administration: Oversight of the administrative processes carried out by the Development Department. Specifically: managing contractors/vendors, accounting for incomes/expenses, managing quality, and other activities assigned by the ED.

    Eligibility Requirements:

    • Full professional proficiency in English and Spanish (spoken and written); professional experience in multiple countries, especially the United States, Guatemala, and Ecuador (or other South American countries).
    • Willingness to be based in Guatemala City and work full-time (40 hours/week) as an independent contractor, including occasional evenings and weekends; willingness to travel frequently in the United States, Guatemala, Ecuador, and beyond.
    • Minimum of 5 years experience leading teams of 5+; ability to lead organization-wide initiatives and build consensus across departments and cultures; Master’s degree in business or a related field; ability to quickly learn new technology platforms.
    • Proven track record planning and executing fundraising campaigns, cultivating major donors, developing corporate partnerships, and making strategic communications; demonstrable portfolio of fundraising achievements from previous roles.
    • High level of emotional intelligence, interpersonal communication, and organizational skills; ability to remain calm under pressure and navigate changing situations; mindset that is strategic, global, and entrepreneurial; appetite for challenges.

    Start Date:

    No sooner than 1 November 2025, no later than 31 December 2025.

    Duration:

    Permanent. The DD is expected to work a standard 40-hour week, although some overtime may be necessary to meet deadlines or attend evening and weekend meetings or events.

    Salary:

    $40,000.00/year
