    The Community Service Society of New York (CSS) has worked with and for New Yorkers since 1843 to promote economic opportunity and champion an equitable city and state. We power change through a strategic combination of research, services, and advocacy to make New York more livable for people facing economic insecurity. By expanding access to health care, affordable housing, employment, debt assistance, and more, we make a tangible difference in the lives of millions. CSS runs a number of consumer health assistance programs that help people enroll in and use health insurance. These services are free. It also coordinates the Health Care for All New York Campaign, a coalition of 170 groups dedicated to securing quality, affordable coverage for all New Yorkers.

    The New York State Department of Health awarded CSS a five year contract to run the Independent Consumer Advocacy Network (ICAN), the statewide Ombudsprogram for Managed Long Term Care (MLTC). ICAN seeks to hire a Training & Outreach Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the community education, outreach, and marketing components of the ICAN contract; managing the training program for ICAN personnel; and assisting in the supervision of case handlers.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the design and development of training and educational materials (including videos) on ICAN issues for its network of community-based organizations (CBOs), the ICAN team at CSS, consumers, and external organizations.
    • Interact with vendors (e.g., graphic design, web development) to develop accurate educational and marketing materials.
    • Develop a marketing and outreach plan to increase awareness and utilization of ICAN services to consumers, service providers, and advocates.
    • Conduct trainings using such materials. Education and outreach formats may include in-person, online, informational sessions, community events, social media, and other appropriate marketing strategies.
    • Oversee development of and implement internal training curriculum for ICAN advocates, including the 2-day annual Intensive Training in Albany, monthly network-wide case review calls, and initial staff onboarding for new advocates.
    • Coordinate with network and helpline managers and outside vendors on creation of internal knowledge base consisting of articles, checklists, and scripts to support ICAN helpline staff in the provision of information and navigation assistance to ICAN callers.
    • Oversee the development and administration of ICAN’s social media and website.
    • Answer substantive questions from the ICAN network’s listserv, in collaboration with the Program Manager and Associate Supervising Attorney. Organize answers in training and educational materials.
    • Other duties in support of the operations of the ICAN community based organization network, as determined by the ICAN Program Manager.
    • Potential supervisory responsibilities as determined by Supervising Attorney.

    Job Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate degree in public health, communications, social work, or other relevant discipline strongly preferred.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Creative, strategic thinker with excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
    • Experience developing and conducting trainings.
    • Experience in designing training and outreach materials.
    • Experience managing social media, website maintenance, and external marketing preferred.
    • Experience working with older adults and people with disabilities strongly preferred.
    • Experience with and understanding of health insurance, access to care issues, and New York's Managed Long Term Care (MLTC) system, including eligibility for MLTC enrollment and home care services preferred.
    • Written and spoken fluency in Spanish or a language other than English preferred.
    • Proficient in MS Office, Wordpress, Canva, Adobe InDesign, and/or Salesforce preferred.

    Salary and Benefits: The annual salary range for this position is $88,946.00.     Physical Requirements: Office work consisting of sitting, use of a computer, etc.

    CSS currently offersa hybrid work environment requiring onsite work at CSS’ officeat least two days per week and three days per week remote work.
