    Description

    Associate Director, Individual Giving

    Full-Time

Are you a dynamic, revenue-focused fundraiser with a passion for the arts and community impact? Ballet Hispánico seeks an experienced Associate Director of Individual Giving to grow a vital donor base, drive revenue, and champion the mission of the nation’s largest Latine cultural institution.

    Organization Profile

As the largest Latine and Hispanic cultural organization in the U.S. and a Ford Foundation–designated American Cultural Treasure, Ballet Hispánico (BH) is a celebrated American dance institution delivering bold, inclusive, and authentic art experiences to tens of thousands annually in New York City and beyond.

Led by Artistic Director & CEO Eduardo Vilaro, BH’s three core programs—the professional Company, the School, and Community Arts Partnerships—elevate dance, challenge convention, and unite communities in celebration of the rich Latine diasporas. Its NYC headquarters houses the School, administrative offices, and studios, serving as the nation’s cultural heart for Latine dance.

With an annual operating budget of $9.5M, BH is supported through performance income, tuition, rentals, and generous contributions from public and private sources. Looking ahead, BH remains committed to nurturing artists, students, and communities through artistic excellence and the transformative power of dance.

    The Position

Ballet Hispánico seeks an experienced, revenue-driven Associate Director of Individual Giving to join its growing Development team. This frontline fundraiser will manage and grow a portfolio of individual donors—including ticket buyers, school parents, and prospects—to support BH’s mission and programs.

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Associate Director will help drive the department’s $5.5M goal, contribute to strategic planning, and serve as an external ambassador. Key responsibilities include leading the Members & Patrons program ($100–$10,000), qualifying major gift prospects, and improving systems for donor engagement and revenue tracking in Salesforce. They will also lead appeals, support Gala fundraising, and help manage small donor events.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage and grow the Members & Patrons program ($100–$10,000), including prospect research and the execution of year-round cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies including monthly renewals.
    • Lead donor renewal and upgrade efforts, including direct asks and annual calendar- and fiscal-year-end campaigns.
    • Identify and cultivate major gift prospects; coordinate donor meetings for senior staff and maintain prospect portfolios.
    • Support planning and execution of all donor events, including the annual Gala, in-house events, and off-site donor engagements, with responsibilities including fundraising tracking and solicitations. Attendance at all Ballet Hispánico events and performances is mandatory .
    • Maintain a strong understanding of BH’s programming and funding priorities to effectively represent the organization to donors.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Development to align individual giving strategies with organizational goals.
    • Track donor activity, engagement, and revenue projections in Salesforce; regularly report on progress and outcomes.
    • Stay current on trends and best practices in individual giving and membership programs to inform strategy and execution.

    Qualifications

    • Several years of experience in individual fundraising, ideally in the performing arts, with a strong track record in membership renewals and donor acquisition.
    • Deep understanding of moves management and donor lifecycle strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward supporters effectively.
    • Exceptional communication skills—both verbal and written—with the ability to craft compelling appeals and engage donors with tailored messaging.
    • Strong project management and organizational skills; able to juggle multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
    • Creative, solution-oriented thinker with a proactive, collaborative mindset.
    • Proficiency in MS Office and Salesforce (or similar CRM).
    • Willingness to work evenings and weekends for events.
    • Passion for the performing arts and alignment with Ballet Hispánico’s mission; experience in arts nonprofits is a plus.

    Work Environment

This position is based at Ballet Hispánico’s historic headquarters on New York’s Upper West Side, home to the School, studios, and administrative offices. The role requires on-site work Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required for on- and off-site events.

    Compensation

This is a full-time position for immediate hire. The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000, and we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, 403(b) retirement savings plan, and flexible paid time off.
