    Description

    Meaningful and engaging student programming is a key component of the AnBryce Foundation’s effort to increase achievement and opportunities for young people.

    The Education Manager establishes and maintains high-quality educational programming, across key initiatives of the AnBryce Foundation, that significantly improves outcomes for participating students. This includes developing and managing the Saturday Programs (Institute and SAIL) curriculum implementation; developing the academic curriculum for Camp Dogwood Summer Academy; using data-driven practices to set curriculum goals and ensure participants meet and/or exceed social, emotional, and academic target; and planning experiential learning experiences that promote positive civic awareness and engagement. The Manager ensures the AnBryce Foundation maximizes its impact by staying aware of emerging trends in education, and refining programming to ensure it is grounded in best practices.

    The Education Manager leads implementation (~8 Saturdays in Fall/Winter and ~8 Saturdays in Winter/Spring) of all school year programming, and is responsible for developing and maintaining high motivation, interest, and commitment from students and their families through engaging programming, events, and communication. This includes creating and implementing a student recruitment and retention strategy to ensure programming consistently reaches 60 students across elementary, middle, and high school during the traditional school year.

    The AnBryce Foundation prioritizes teamwork, and every member of our team is responsible for contributing to the success of all programs. In the lead up to, and during the summer, the position will focus on ensuring the smooth implementation of curriculum at Camp Dogwood Summer Academy. This will include leading the hiring of the Summer Curriculum Director and supporting the training of the counselors on the curriculum. The incumbent is required to be onsite at the camp during camp senior and staff training (May/June); the first four days of sessions 1-3 and the entirety of session 4. During their time at camp, the Manager will be responsible for observing and providing feedback to counselors on curriculum implementation, developing and leading workshops with students to support their academic skill development, as well as supporting the camp curriculum director. They will also serve as part of the senior leadership team.

    As part of the AnBryce Foundation’s deep commitment to ensuring student success, the Manager is responsible for connecting students and families who may need additional support with other staff at the AnBryce Foundation.

    Program Leadership

    • Leads the planning, implementation, and administration of the AnBryce Foundation’s school-year programs: Saturday Institute, Student Adventures in Leadership (SAIL), Pillors of Excellence Internship, and Studies Buddies.
    • Sets curriculum goals for each grade level based on student data and ensures programming improves social, emotional, and academic outcomes for participating students.
    • Hires, trains, evaluates and serves as a motivating manager to Saturday Programs staff and the Summer Curriculum Director.
    • Directly supports and guides the instructional staff to ensure they have meaningful lesson plans, resources, and the knowledge and skills to meet the needs of the students. Conducts observations of staff, writes evaluations and leads feedback sessions.
    • Develops the annual curriculum focus for AnBryce Foundation programming which will serve as a line of continuity through all programming.
    • Ensures curriculum provides students with multiple opportunities to build civic awareness and builds their capacity to engage in civil discourse, plans and coordinates field trips, enrichment offerings, and visitor engagement opportunities.

    Participant Recruitment and Community Engagement

    • Designs and engages in proactive parent, and community engagement opportunities to attract, recruit, and retain students to ensure the program consistently reaches 60 students across elementary, middle, and high school.
    • Presents to different audiences about the Foundation’s school age programs for recruitment and partnership cultivation.
    • Creates learning opportunities for parents that provide them with an understanding of child development and increases their ability to support their child and access resources.
    • Identifies students who may benefit from additional wraparound services and works with the AnBryce Wellness Team to connect them with additional resources and supports (e.g., ensures students have access to additional homework support through the “Studies Buddies” program).
    • Maintains consistent communication with youth, and parents/guardians regarding participation, programming and related matters.
    • Develops and coordinates content about the Saturday Institute to support public awareness of AnBryce programming (e.g., social media posts, photos, student feedback, and/or content for the Newsletter)
    • Stays abreast of research and best practices, uses data and feedback from previous programming to lead a semiannual review of the robust Saturday Institute and SAIL curricula to ensure continually improve programming and experience for students, staff, and families.

    Administration and Compliance

    • Writes and presents reports to Foundation stakeholders including the Leadership team, Board, Advisory Council, etc.
    • Helps manage the analysis and presentation of data and the progress of data-driven initiatives for senior management team and external audiences; communicates progress to key stakeholder groups; and incorporates their input.
    • Cultivates and maintains local and national partnerships in collaboration with the AnBryce Foundation founders and heirs.
    • Plans and executes field trips and enrichment activities in collaboration with community organizations, corporate partners, and university partners.
    • Leads on all program operations, including identifying potential sites for Saturday Programs, transportation, vendors/contractors, food, etc. Tracks program expenses and ensures compliance with organization policies.
    • Be onsite for Camp Dogwood programming during staff training and the beginning of each camp session, providing support to camp curriculum director and counselors and observing curriculum implementation
    • Contributes to a strong organization culture by cultivating a positive and motivating environment.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Program Leadership

    • Bachelor’s degree, and 5-7 years in education, with previous classroom experience preferred. Previous experience with community-based youth program management is a plus.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of educational theory and practices, including focus on standards-based instruction.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of, and ability to, analyze assessment data to develop and implement procedures and policies to support student achievement goals.
    • Participant Recruitment and Community Engagement
    • Demonstrated ability to engage, cultivate, and maintain trusting, collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.
    • Experience building relationships with and participating in feedback conversations with parents.
    • Experience working with college students and volunteers.
    • Knowledge of local school systems is a plus.

    Administration and Compliance

    • Highly organized, motivated, and detail-oriented planner with an ability to manage competing timelines, and projects across teams, with a focus on implementation.
    • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills; and effective at communicating with diverse audiences.
    • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable computer applications. Strong data management skills with both Mac and PC devices.
    • Willingness to learn and a growth mindset.
    • Bilingual a plus (English/Spanish).

    ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONS

    Some physical requirements of the position could be endurance including prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, walking long distances, hiking, climbing, and stretching; requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate outdoor equipment and camp activities; requires a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
