    Job Description: Grants Coordinator

    CPWR – The Center for Construction Research and Training, (www.cpwr.com) a non-profit 501(c)3 with multiple federally-funded grants

    seeks a self-starting, highly organized, hands-on grants coordinator. The ideal

    candidate has three to five years of experience working with government grants

    and cooperative agreements. The grants coordinator will be a core member of the

    Finance and Administration Team and responsible for supporting grant fiscal and

    administration oversight to ensure regulatory compliance and program

    accountability across the organization. This includes relationships with contractors

    and subgrantees.

    CPWR is the research, development, and training arm of the North America’s Building Trades Unions. We are in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland, convenient to Washington, DC, with accessible public transportation (Metro, MARC) and public parking. CPWR partners with key federal, industry, academic, and worker organizations nationwide to reduce occupational injuries, illnesses, and fatalities in the construction industry. This position will support the grant process from start to finish with oversight from the Director of Finance and Administration and Executive Director.

    Responsibilities:

    • Oversee reporting for federal grants and cooperative agreements by coordinating with program and finance teams to track progress and financial reporting to funders and ensure these reports are complete and submitted on time.
    • Oversee preparation and execution of grant-related contracts.
    • Support grant application and reporting processes, including developing timelines for application assembly and assembling reports and applications.
    • Ensure adherence to federal regulations, including 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance) and award- and agency-specific compliance frameworks.
    • Work with the accounting and finance staff to prepare detailed monthly financial reports and a budget portfolio for CPWR and subgrantees.
    • Maintain organized, auditable records for all grants, including agreements, amendments, and deliverables.
    • Serves as the core resource for internal and sub-grantees inquiries related to award budgeting, invoicing, and reporting in a timely manner.
    • Assist with materials for external audits.
    • Attend training to stay current on grant management best practices and changes to federal regulations.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree required in business, accounting, finance, public administration, nonprofit management, or related field.
    • At least three years of grant and contract coordination experience including lifecycle coordination, budgeting, funder reporting, compliance tracking, and audits; experience with federal grants and contracts in a nonprofit setting a plus.
    • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and track multiple tasks with attention to detail.
    • Knowledge of federal grants and grant processes, preferably with HHS.
    • Experience with grants.gov, eRA Commons, the federal Invoice Processing Platform (IPP), and the federal Automated Standard Application for Payments, or a willingness to learn.
    • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, strong excel skills required.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort collaborating with a team while taking ownership of your piece of the project.
    • Excellent verbal and written skills.

    Compensation Package:

    Salary for coordinator position is $65-75k/year with opportunity for advancement to a leadership level. Candidates with required skills and experience at a leadership level will be considered for a higher pay level.
