    Description

    Summary: Youth Empowerment for Advancement Hangout (YEAH) is a Black-led, community-based non-profit supporting teens and young adults in West and Southwest Philadelphia ages 15 to 24 who are impacted by violence. YEAH works to create safe and authentic hangout spaces by providing culturally relevant engagement and implementing teen led interventions to address the root causes of violence. Utilizing teen action through peer led mediation and conflict resolution, community engagement, and economic opportunities, YEAH interrupts the cycle of youth community violence. YEAH acknowledges teens and young adults as the experts of their own lives and prioritizes pushing back against oppressive systems and addressing structural barriers that often lead to violence.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The Director of Philanthropy initiates, cultivates and stewards relationships with 125 major donors. The Director of Philanthropy plans and coordinates all aspects of fund development in accordance with YEAH Philly’s mission and standard of excellence. The Director of Philanthropy is responsible for formulating a funding strategy and executing a development plan which deepens the commitment of existing donors, increases the number of overall supporters and creates opportunities for all to contribute to YEAH Philly’s mission. Ability to work with a variety of people, personalities, ages and backgrounds. Lead, manage, supervise and motivate individuals and teams of volunteers. Plan, schedule, prioritize, coordinate, delegate and manage multiple work activities.

    Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Arts or related training/experience. Five years experience in professional development and fundraising with a non-profit organization. Passion for the program and its mission. Demonstrated sales or fundraising success, performance driven, outstanding communication skills, ability to work independently with only 15% of time spent in the office, leadership and teambuilding skills, flexibility regarding work assignments and work hours, familiarity with the key funding sources for non-profit organizations, understanding and support of the mission and vision of YEAH Philly

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Major Donor Fund Development (85%)

    • Primary responsibility to manage a portfolio of 125 major donors ($5000+) relationships in coordination with the CEO, Board, and volunteers.
    • Prioritize time with donors out of the office over other functions.
    • Steward major gifts in coordination with the CEO to include a plan to thank donors at various levels personally and creatively.
    • Manage comprehensive campaign for YEAH Philly which includes, but is not limited to regular contact with campaign consultant, securing campaign leadership, prospect identification and cultivation, awareness and signature events, and campaign interviews.
    • Diversify YEAH Philly’s funding base to increase unrestricted and restricted funds from all constituencies and launch appropriate systematic fund development programs and initiatives.
    • Plan and execute receptions and one annual event for major donors with a solid plan for post event follow up and donor recognition.
    • Implement a written annual and long-term fund development plan that is driven by the strategic plan of the organization.
    • Lead, support and empower a cohesive volunteer fundraising team through active communication and delegation.
    • Creatively and generously thank major donors.
    • Steward and grow the planned giving program. Integrate planned giving program donor cultivation and solicitation efforts.
    • Present the mission of YEAH Philly at civic groups as needed.
    • Oversee the donor database.

    Staff and Board Relationships (15%)

    • Communicate on a regular basis with the CEO to report progress and any obstacles that may arise.
    • Prepare a monthly progress report for the CEO and attend board meetings when requested.

    Full-time with benefits package. Employer pays 85% of total benefits package (health, dental, vision, FSA after 60 days). 160 hours of PTO for the first year (80 hours personal and 80 hours of set company days off), with paid company holidays off. 401k with company match.
