    Job Description: Volunteer Coordinator

    Harmony Farms is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to offering community and support through therapeutic horseback riding and activities to individuals who present with a diversity of cognitive, physical, and emotional challenges and disabilities.

    Volunteers are essential to our work, and we are seeking an organized, people-centered Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, support, and steward volunteers across our programs to benefit our community and the sustainability and growth of Harmony Farms.

    Reports To: Executive Director

    Salary: $16 per hour, 25 hours per week

    Work Week: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday – 8 AM – NOON

    Thursday – 2:30 – 6:30 PM

    Fundraising events as determined

    Areas of Responsibility:

    • Volunteer Recruitment, Selection, Retention, and Development
    • Administrative Responsibilities
    • Assists with Special Events coordinating & scheduling volunteers
    • Assists with all other assigned tasks

    Requirements of the Job:

    • Candidate must have at least 2-3 years of volunteer coordinator experience.
    • A minimum of a high school diploma; higher education or equivalent experience in non-profit management preferred
    • Passion for community service and mission-driven work.
    • Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams and volunteers
    • Strong organizational, project management, problem-solving, and time management skills
    • Technical proficiency: computer, software, and telephone skills.
    • Ability to communicate and collaborate with staff, Board, volunteers, and the general public.
    • Strong interpersonal skills that show an ability to work with diverse groups of people and handle conflict resolution with empathy and professionalism
    • Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods.
    • Occasional lifting of supplies (up to 35-40 lbs).
    • Must pass a criminal background check and, if necessary, a vulnerable sector check.
    • Thorough experience and knowledge of office software programs, including documents, spreadsheets, and presentation programs.

    Duties:

    Volunteer Development and Coordination

      • Responsible for all aspects of ongoing volunteer management, including: communications, outreach, recruitment, coordination, retention, training, and onboarding for all volunteers, including: lesson volunteers, barn volunteers, event volunteers, and all special project volunteers.
      • Outreach and relationship building with area corporations, small businesses, and state and local agencies for volunteer recruitment for general needs and special projects.
    • Responsible for Volunteer stewardship and recognition through the annual recognition event and ongoing acknowledgement of volunteers
    • Management of Volgistics or other volunteer database

    Administrative Responsibilities

    • All associated paperwork, reporting, and metrics
