Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) is a national 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to redistributing excess food from businesses to nonprofits serving people experiencing food insecurity. We work alongside our dedicated network of food rescuers and partner with organizations of all sizes and sectors to repurpose surplus ranging from as little as 5 pounds to as much as 500+ pallets. We aim to reduce food waste, promote sustainability, and enhance food security. Since RLC was founded in 2013, we’ve rescued over 21+ million pounds of food, prevented 48M+ pounds of emissions, and provided 17M+ meals to communities in need.
The Position
The Senior Events & Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in planning and executing high-quality, well-run events that support relationship-building, visibility, and strategic engagement with donors, partners, and community stakeholders. This is a logistics-driven, detail-oriented role suited for someone who brings a calm, proactive approach to coordination and thrives on managing multiple moving parts. The ideal candidate is highly organized, anticipates needs, and ensures that events feel seamless and thoughtfully executed.
Responsibilities
Event Planning & Execution (50% of time)
- Coordinate logistics for in-person, virtual, and hybrid events, including briefings, receptions, and strategic convenings
- Develop and manage detailed timelines, run-of-show documents, and event checklists
- Coordinate vendors, venues, materials, and on-site logistics
- Track event budgets, invoices, and expenses in collaboration with internal teams
- Support post-event documentation, follow-ups, and debriefs
Stakeholder & Guest Experience (25% of time)
- Serve as a primary point of contact for event guests, including senior stakeholders, partners, and board members.
- Manage guest lists, RSVPs, seating, and communications with accuracy and discretion
- Ensure a warm, polished, and high-touch experience before, during, and after events
Internal Coordination (25% of time)
- Collaborate closely with leadership, communications, and operations teams
- Maintain organized records, calendars, and event documentation
- Anticipate needs, flag potential issues early, and ensure strong follow-through on all details
- Support continuous improvement of event systems and processes
Qualifications
- 5-10 years of experience in event planning, operations, hospitality, or client-facing coordination
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong ability to manage multiple timelines, priorities, and stakeholders simultaneously
- Warm, professional communication style with confidence, interacting with senior-level individuals
- Proven follow-through and reliability, someone others trust to “keep things moving.”
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and CRM platforms, preferably Salesforce.
- Based in New York City and available for occasional evening events
Total Compensation
- Salary Range: $38,000–$45,000 for 10-20 hours per week
