    Description

    DVP seeks a Grants Finance Specialist to join a passionate team helping survivors of intimate partner violence and their children gain safety and independence. The Grants Finance Specialist will lead DVP’s financial planning and reporting processes including managing the annual operating budget, creating program grant budgets and periodic forecasts, and developing efficient financial processes for DVP. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, has a strong attention to detail, thinks creatively, and is able to thrive working both independently and collaboratively. This is a hybrid position working full-time for a one-year contract.

    ABOUT DVP

    The Domestic Violence Project (DVP)’s mission is to help survivors of intimate partner violence and their children live free of violence and abuse, marshalling the combination of legal and advocacy services necessary to secure justice and a dignified quality of life. We consider intimate partner violence – regardless of gender, sexual identity, religion, immigration, or other status – to be a human rights violation. We serve an average of 1,700 survivors annually across all five boroughs of NYC through our comprehensive direct services (legal representation in family law and immigration matters, holistic case management, and empowerment groups), plus an additional 2,000+ reached through community outreach, education, and clinics.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Grants Finance Specialist will report to the Director of Development and is responsible for the following:

    • Manage DVP’s operational budget and update as needed through the year; Maintain salary allocation spreadsheet
    • Work with Director of Development to develop proposal budgets; Provide assessment of financial implications for proposals and new projects
    • Oversee the financial reporting of DVP grants (restricted and unrestricted) and ensure that reporting guidelines are met as stipulated per grant agreements
    • Monitor and ensure compliance with funding contracts; Maintain an up-to-date understanding of agency fiscal manual requirements and allowances
    • Communicate with the Urban Justice Center’s central fiscal team regarding a variety of financial matters, including but not limited to budgeting, allocations, and reporting
    • Assist Development team with the allocation of funds toward fixed costs; ensure that accurate and appropriate percentages/allocations are maintained
    • Coordinate with the development team to reconcile grant revenues to meet all donor requirements and deadlines and to maintain fiscal year allocation of grant revenues
    • Develop budget scenario forecasts as requested.
    • Assist with annual grant audits and support annual statutory audits
    • Drive continuous improvements in financial processes, systems, tools, and documentation
    • All other tasks as assigned

    REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • 2-5 years experience, preferably in grants administration; experience with accounting, financial planning, and grants-management software, and general ledger analysis
    • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related professional training in grant reporting
    • Detail oriented with excellent organizational and project management skills
    • Excellent financial analysis, written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Advanced experience and proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
    • Strong ability to collaborate and think creatively
    • Experience working with government grant contracts preferred
